I am very interested in Turkish ODM - but nowadays starting a new collection would be financial suicide with these prices

He offered 3 ribbon bars in two auctions: 2 with devices (I lost both) and the above. Asked him for a whole offer, but no way
The bad thing was, that all stuff in the last auction ended at the same time - so no chance to react.

And a better picture of the stickpin.

Hello,
this is the latest group in my Waldeck Collection
A 4-piece Ordensspange with the golden Verdienstmedaille and swords, plus Bandspange and stickpin.

And the reverse.
Unfortunately there are enamel damages on the left and lower arm
This wasn`t mentioned in the auction catalogue by Carsten Zeige
So never buy anything without detail photos of BOTH sides!

If there were, in fact, “official” issue bars, could someone kindly point out which of the already posted examples would qualify?
Hi,
Gert Efler wrote in his booklet "Der Feldzug in China 1900/01", that these unofficial bars could be bought from dealers in the old days:
- Tschang-tsch?ng-ling
- Tonku (also: Tongku)
- Chouchouang
- Kuant-schang (also: Kuan-Tschang)
- Nan-Hung-Men (also: Nang-Hu-Men or Nan=Hung=Men)
- Nankuanto
Perhaps there were more - who knows ???

Hello,
unfortunately I have no picture of a worn medal, but here you can see F?rstin Bathildis and the medals in her possesion.
She was awarded the Wedding Medal in 1901 and the Medal for the Silver Wedding (Silberhochzeit) in 1926.
Pictures are from Gert Eflers Waldeck-Book.

BUT tell me ... is HUOLU the same as HOPHU???
Rod
Hello Rod,
these are two different bars.
HOPHU was a mountain village with a nearby stronghold occupied by Boxers. The campaign dates are 28.12.1900 - 14.01.1901.
HUOLU was named after fighting around the Huolu-Pass on 23. & 24.04.1901.
It was the last action in China for those a campaign bar was granted.

Wow - that`s an interesting bar.
I`ve often seen my bar, but nether the cut out type presented by Paul.
It looks Home- or Zaire-made, but it is nice!

@Rick - thank you for the further info.
@sascha
I didn`t buy it at the ebay auction some weeks ago!
I saw it this week on the homepage of J?rg Kalies and got it at once. So I don`t know if the ebay seller is the same as the guy from MFF. But I try to contact him because of the bigger Spange.

Rick - you are my man !!!
On his later WW 2 Bandspange you can clearly see the GOLD thread at the edges of the Detmold ribbon. Unfortunately the larger bar wasn`t offered
Three WW-2 awards at the age of nearly 70 - I can`t really believe that ???
Here we go.

Hello,
I got something new.
A 10 piece Bandspange with double Waldeck
It should be attributed to Major z.D. von Sommerfeld und Falkenhayn, Batt. Kommandeur RIR 235.
He was awarded the Verdienstkreuz
- 4. class with X: 05.01.1915
- 3. class with X: 03.11.1917.
So I need a confirmation and if possible, some more info of the man

Did Daniel pick a color for the covers?
Hi Rick,
no pink cover - I am very disappointed
The red is the old and the blue the new book.
Have to fix the paper stickers; they aren`t made for the future.

Hello Rick and Daniel,
yesterday I received the updated Waldeck book and I wanna thank you both for the good work. And of course to the late Erhard Roth for the first print.
I am still comparing both editions.
All the best

Hi Tiger-pie,
very interesting photos of the exercise.
But I am wondering - do you Australians wear nicknames on the uniform (post 17) ???
Or has he got a twin in the same unit

Hello,
here is the scan of his entry in the "Offizier-Stammliste des IR 83", Berlin 1903.
He is first mentioned in the 1888 Rangliste as a Secondlieutnant already decorated with the Romanian Order as his only by then.
In the 1894 list he also got his Waldeck VK 3. Klasse and more in the following years.
In the Regiments-History he is mentioned in 1911, for his 25 years of service with the Regiment. Therefore he was awarded a Honor Sabre from the "Offizierkorps".
