hello, many thanks for that, 165 quid is a bit too much for my slender resources, I am presuming the helmet I have would have a brass badges, as all the fittings are brass. I bought this 'trainwreck' of a helmet as a restoration project, it had a steel Prussian badge attached.
many thanks for your help.

hello, I have a police picklehaube, complete except for the front badge, the helmet has chinscales, so I presume it should have the brass stamped badge, pictures on the webb of a complete one show chinscales and brass badge.
thank you for looking.

Like I said, drop Tony an e-mail. He's incredibly helpful.
He'll tell you exactly what to do and might even direct you to the parts you require.
I will get around to emailing him, first I want to see whats for sale as regards the front badge.
cheers

Many thanks to 'tachel' due his prompting I have been trawling the web, came across an advert on ebay showing a repro bavarian police Pickelhaube, I think this wreck I have could very well be a police item, apart from the badge, looks like i will have to look around for a police badge to go with it once its in better shape.

hello gentlemen, there's something wrong with this picklehaube, spiked, Bavarian chinscale mounts, Prussian rossette, other ranks stamped steel badge, chinscales joined by a small oval brass buckle. from the few books I have the helmet should have a horse hair plume with bavarian chinscale mounting points?
also, with officers chinscales, should the fron badge be gilded brass? I bougth this items as a restoration project, but need to know whats what with it.
Any help would be most greatfully received.
many thanks

The Abrams is one of the best tanks, no tank is all things to all men. the Chally has greater range as regards gunnery, does not spend so much time in the workshop, has just as good armour, and does not cost as much as an Abrams, not many 'challies' were 'lost' in Iraq.

The angled hull now being used on modern apc's, the South African arny used that style on 'Jasper's' thjirty years ago!

The U.S M1A1 and M1A2 SEP Abrams Tank is the best tank:
This is a picture of me in 2003 Samarra, Iraq the push to the North after 3ID took Baghdad.
They made us run over I.E.Ds in Samarra city with our tanks, due to all the infentry guys getting wounded and killed by small explosives ones. This stopped when 3-67 lost their first tank by a large I.E.D. Killed every one inside and blew the turret off 120 feet.

Hello David, the spring rate means what poundage it would need to compress the spring fully. [i think!]
I will have to ask my son, his PC has died, so I'm having to do his research.
I'll get back to you.
many thanks
Hello again, spring rate, what force would be needed to fully compress the spring over a given length, measured
in foot pounds, or these days, 'joules' [i hope thats the right spelling]

Hi Pikestaff,
While I am not sure what you mean by spring rate, the spring arrangement was contained within a blued telescoping tube made up of three sections of stamped and rolled sheet steel.
The firing pin was retained by a cross pin in a machined block at the bolt end of the largest section. The smallest section at the rear of the gun ended in a formed metal cup that pressed against the upright part of the lower receiver/trigger group assembly.

I should've mentioned - it's a British unit, the manufacturer is shown as a well known British one, Smith & Wright Birmingham.
Hello Leigh, thank you for the information.

hello All,
I am wondering how much could cost a pair like these?
thanks!
Humberto
Hello Humberto, I paid ?6.00 for this pair several years ago, also I recently found out from the book 'army badges and insigia since 1945' by Guido Rosignoli, that these are west german, not East German as I had thought.
