    1. Another of my faves, the Canadian Armoured Corps hat badge. I think this one is ww1, but I could be wrong. Any opinion on this is welcome. I have found a few good sources of original Canadian Cap badges here in the Okanagan area as many veterans from Canada,as well as all sorts of other countries, retire here. I have about 20-25 cap badges, some british, and a New Zealand one as well. The few re-strikes I have seen here have been labeled as re-strikes and look quite sharp, but usually a little too sharp and clean...

    2. Hi guys,

I have many Canadian Cap Badges and it is very fun because there are so many localized logos that include all sorts of symbols. I have just joined the club and will be posting many more Canadian cap badges, all from ww2 and earlier. Here is one of my favourites (my home province regiment) the Rocky Mountain Rangers with the cool Ram logo and native British Columbian slogan.

    3. Hi Kevin, no insult taken. I am just starting and any advice is always welcome. I will post better pics soon for the archival sake and make sure to find a piece of cardboard or something for background on my scanner (I tried paper but it bent too much and left bad shadows). Any advice on this subject from anyone else is welcome as well, also post your black painted Canadian Cap badges for comparison!

      Thanks again,

      Pat

P.S. What's so wrong with Black on Black, a wonderful colour combination any day. :cheeky: That's 90% of my wardrobe!

    4. Hello there,

I bought this unusual medal about a year ago, and was wondering if anybody knew the origin of this medal. It has the Republic of France symbol, the British lion and Union Jack, and I believe the Russian double headed eagle. It appears to be a medal for the allies, but when it was awarded and for what I do not know. Please let me know any information on this ww1 medal.

      Thanks,

      Pat

    5. Hi there,

I posted this in the wrong forum earlier, so I thought I had better re-post it here to get more precise expertise. It is the "Commemorative Medal of Entrance of British Army in Italy 10 July 1943" medal. I have always loved this flea-market find and wondered if there was a ribbon out there for this, as well as if it is a sought after item. I sure like the stories of the 8th Army in WW2, especially the Canadians, so I'm sure it is an attractive medal. Is this rare, and is it an official or unofficial medal as well. Any info on this wonderful medal is welcome.

      Cheers

    6. Hi all,

I have always liked the ww2 or earlier Canadian Cap Badges (being a patriotic Canadian) and my favourites include the ones made of copper and painted black. They look sharp and are a little rarer. If everyone would like to post their black painted Canadian cap badges that would be great. I will start with a couple of mine.

First, the Victoria Rifles of Canada ww2 issue.

    7. Hi guys,

This is probably a common set, but I love it anyways. The Canadian 8th Army set is my favourite of all the sets because of the action they went through in every theatre of ww2. Many hours of fascinating reads! Here are my Africa Star, 39-45 Star, Italy Star, France Germany Star, Defense Medal, Canadian Voluntary Service Medal and the British 39-45 Medal. If anybody else has any of these to show and maybe have some obscure or interesting info that would be great.

      Thanks again,

      Pat

    8. Hi there,

Here is my 8th Army Canadian ribbon bar with the mini medals of the 39-45 Star, Italy Star, France Germany Star, 39-45 Medal, Defense Medal, and Canadian Voluntary Service Medal. I enjoy these mini medals and I was pretty happy to get a complete mounted set. I had to get a replacement CVSM medal which I placed over the original (which is missing the medal). Any body else have any of these Canadian 8th Army Mini Medal Bars or have any info on them?

      Thanks,

      Pat
