Thanks Joel
I lost both my grandmothers and my grandfather this year so we've been sorting through all the stuff. I don't know that much about these guys so its all sorta new to me. I heard some stories about them when I was little but that went through one ear and out the other. Its funny that when I ask someone about them they always say you don't remember them. I was three years old when they were around.
I'll be glad when this year is over........
thanks,

Hello,
The wings I thought were Ike's are actually my grandmathers brother Stillman. She has a bunch of his stuff so I'll see what I can get. All I know about him is that he was shot down in France.

Hello Leigh,
Interesting Posters! Could you post some pictures of the text on the poster in post 14. Also was it illegal to hang up the anti British posters.

Hello Ed,
I'll keep the glass.
I used some windex and it cleaned up. It must have been framed/reframed in the 50's because behind the document it had an old file folder with a piece of plastic still attached as padding.
thanks,
barry

I found that he received 177 acres but it didn't list the county or year. I think I'll invest in a new piece of glass.
That is a flower pot on the other side. :speechless:

It wasn't glued
I'll take it down to Kinkos and get a good copy to put in the frame. The glass needs a good cleaning too.

I'd say no also on the San Patricios. He probably received a nice chunk of land for his service. I was thinking of taking the document out of the frame in order to check the backside but it looks glued on the board. Usually they have some sort of info on the back of this type of document. I know that alot of American Revolution docs have proof of service remarks located on the backside when they went seeking a pension.
I've checked the Texas Confederates and death certificates without any luck.

Thanks Ed & James
I've been looking through old newspapers and have only managed to find one article on the IAF, but it's an early one. Not a long article but I'll keep looking.
