    1. Hello,

I took some pictures of my uncle's(my grandmothers sisters husband) Colt that he got during WWII. He died about 10 years ago. It's mine if I want it. I'm surprised its nickel plated. I know absolutely nothing about Colts.

      thanks,

    2. Hello,

I've seen a few male portraits(circa 1815) wearing a small red heart(without the cross) on their shirt and I was wondering if its related to the Vendean Royalist Insignia(circa 1793). The males in the 1815 portraits seem to young to be Vendean Veterans. Maybe just fashionable to wear a red heart or an insignia for some other organisation.

I don't have a photo of just the red heart.

      thanks,

    3. Thanks Michael

I have another on the way. A french officer that might be a Tirailleur-Chasseurs, Fusilier or Grenadier. I think he is wearing a Knight of Malta medal. I'm also not sure o his rank. When I get it I'll post some better pics.

Here are a list of websites that I found on Hanover.

      8th Kings Regiment of Foot

I guess they were in the American Revolution.

A picture from the book American Heritage the American Revolution p170

This British officer's uniform coat is faced with dark blue of the house of Hanover, indicating that he belongs to a Royal Regiment. The coat's knee-length skirts are turned back for greater ease in marching.

    5. Hello,

I've decided to add alittle color to my collecting. I've been trying to do my homework on them and figured that I'll stick with the dealers rather than Ebay. As with medals they are highly reproduced/faked and with my limited knowledge would just lose money.

My first purchase is a french lady that is a watercolor painted on ivory c1814. I like that she is dressed simple rather than the Zaa Zaa Gabor look. Hopefully I'll get one or two military pieces shortly.

      thanks,

    6. Hello,

      This is :off topic:

I found this that might be useful to someone who can find it.

      Twining, E. F. "Uganda Medals and Decorations" Uganda Journal [Kampula],2 ,No.3, January 1935, 209-225.

      thanks,

      barry
