I have a bronze reiter presented by the officers corps to Lt Horn in 1912 when he left the Schutztruppe in GSWA .Picture attached.

I really would like to find a photo of Lt Horn and other info.

From what I can see he was in the " Leib Grenadier Regiment Koenig Friedrich Wilhelm 111" in 1916 .

There were a number of Von Brauchitsch in WWI . Two were Hptm AD in the rank lists .One in Grenadier regt. Koenig Wilhelm 1 and the other in 2. Garde -Regt zu Fuss Berlin.

Yes I have items of the post guys .Really would like to get photo's and more info on them like decorations awarded .Whilst there is some info in the rank lists it is precious little.

I think there could have been more than 12.000.

There were in fact over 20,000 troops in DSWA in 1905 ( the year of maximum strength) of which 19,600 were NCO and Soldiers, and 1,020 were officers and 286 were staff . ( Werner Haupt ,Die Deutsche Schutztruppe Pg. 53).

So there certainly could have been up to 20,000 rifles and bayonets in my estimation .

This is true.I had seen a rifle and bayonet pair with the same marking.I presume the number of rifles would reflect the number of bayonets.

An interesting bit of detail I saw in a regulation (Stempelvorschrift) on size of numbering gives the troop designation (K.S.)stamp size at 4.2 mm and the series number as 2.1mm .I have found this to be true on bayonets and swords.

Any idea what numbers the KS stampings go up to?

All tangs on these blades are marked even if the blade is not marked .Does anybody have a list of tang marks and what makers they refer to .I have deduced "C.E." is "Carl Eikhorn" but what is A.O. +" .Could it be "Alex Coppel " which I would have thought would be "A.C.S." ?

There were certainly GEW88 out there in DSWA .Saw one awhile ago that came back as WW1 souvenier from DSWA .Actually a Karbiner 88 (later version for S catridge) See image. Interesting bayonet your guy is wearing on belt.

Chris fascinating photo occupation forces in China I believe. Would love to know what the badge is on the sam brown belt across the chest.

Looks good to me .What is thickness of medal .Is the artists name on the left shoulder ridge closw to the rim ,I cannot see as the photo is not large enough .Original strikes (generally award pieces) had artists name .Later strikes did not and were thinner and plated and were often used I believe on later mountings after WW1.

Tell me about the 2FR.1.105 marking on the KS98 . Was that is GSWA ?

Great photo of South West Africa Schutztruppe NCO .If it is an original photo you could magnify the SWA commemorative medal he is wearing so we can identify the battle bars
