Gentlemen,
taking a usual buyer's premium of 20% into account, a final price of USD 16,200 is still rather moderate for an almost category 1 set - my humble opinion.
Kind regards
Christian
Could be. But my point was that Paul's remark about Markov would have a hard time sellling his items for the est. price was exaggerated to say the least. Also, there was some doubt here by others whether this set would even reach the starting price.
Btw, I placed a bid on the Kutuzov 3 set but just missed it. A real bargain IMHO.

I agree. As a mater of fact I wantend to place a bid on the Nevsky suspension but I was too late. All other items were way too expensive IMHO. The HSU went for £5000 If I'm not misstaken. Taken the 20% buyers premium into account thats $7500... not bad

Given the present moribund state of the market which makes a dodo seem positively oozing with life. He will need a miracle of titanic scale to shift much of the stuff

Don't you worry, this lot will sell for the price mentioned without a problem. Believe me... ;-)
Last January he sold a single undocumented OG1 for $7750 so $10k for this set will be easy to accomplish.
Btw, only 5 out of the 30 Soviet awards didn't sell for the estimated price last time so I really don't see your negative stance in this matter. The only substantial decline in prices is that of common Red Banners. But these were ridiculously overpriced 8 years ago.

There are more variations to this badge than the number of women Rasputin appropriated. The fakes if anything often look too real.

Lol. That remark just made my day ;-)

Thanks all! I've contacted some Russian experts and they concur it's authentic. @Volovonok: there are (even) more variations than the ones shown on the websites you've posted.

$3500... that's way too much even for an interesting group like this IMHO

- No, I didn't so I do not have the exact size and weight
- you could very well be be right Claudius but I can't compare it because I can't find any on the web. If this one is a fake with not much details, I wonder how beautiful authentic ones look like

Wow, it looks just it... Maybe I should have bought it while I had the chance...Unfortunally I didn't because here somebody said it was a copy...

Thanks Egorka! Do you know this particular type of badge?

Could be, I have no idea. But apparently it is not authentic so maybe the faker hasn't been paying attention at school? ;-)

Wow, ok... I would never have thought it was a copy! I thought it was beautifully made with very nice details. But I'm not into imperial stuff so I guess I could easily be fooled. Anyway, glad to know it isn't authentic so I won't have to burn my fingers on it ;-)

Very, very nice and complete group! You don't see them around too often with all the paperwork this group has.

That still doesn't make sense because CXCVIII would be 198 ;-) But you might be right about the jeweler trying to put down 1908. Do you know what kind of badge this is?

Anybody?

@GlennC
Well, thats more like it! Not only do these bullet holes look much more realistic, there are some pictures of the awardees wearing them as well ! Also, some very expensive items are damaged... Nobody would do this on purpose. Not even the dumbest of fakers...

Here you find a review on the seller you were referring to and on other scammers.

When you think $3000 for a fake group is bad, take a look at this one... :-(
