Hi all, This time I?ll present a book - a book even rarer than some imperial medals. Written in 1943 by L. Marques Poliano, this book had only 500 copies made - You can find pictures, laws, lists and numbers and even "blue prints" of brazilian orders until 1943. I found this one (autographed with a dedication note) in a aucion house here in Sao Paulo last year. It was expensive, but this one is a must have for brazilian medals collectors. Hope you like it! Ricky
Hello Gilbert and Ed, Thanks for your reply! This is the info I was looking for... For how long this maker actually made imperial awards?? In fact the order I found the maker mark is a very beautiful version of the "Imperial Order of Our Lady of the Conception of Vila Vicosa", but as i learned here on the forum, this award is a house order of the royal house of Portugal. The current head of the house, HRH Dom Duarte, Duque de Bragan?a still awards this order. Maybe Rothe still producing this awards
Hello all, I found a maker mark on a Brazilian imperial award...the mark is a symbol (?) and Rothe. Another mark says "Wien". I learned from medalnet that he?s also was one of the Order of the Rose makers... Can anyone tell me something else about this maker? I found a 1922 award with his mark - but he?s not in any III Reich list... Kind regards, Ricardo
Hello Mike, Thanks for the information about the orders. I?ll check the link right now! I said I think it?s a strange thing to see people wearing this orders, ?cos I prefer to see them on the chest of our military heroes from the past - those who fought on the bloody War of Paraguay for example... Cheers, Ricardo
I?m curious too...This awards are still produced? I saw a picture of one of the royal family in Portugal (or Brasil I?m not sure) wearing a Order of the Rose - I must confess I think it?s a bit strange...
Hello Jacky, This order was a military order, instituted in 1818 by the King of Portugal and Brasil D. Joao VI - I don?t know about the use of the order nowadays
Hello All! Douglas asked me to post some stuff from my collection...here?s some pictures I took with my cell phone.
