This is a nice post 1968 Constable and Sergeant's Sam Browne belt with holster, ammunition case and handcuff case. Note the angle of the holster on the belt since this was worn by a mounted trooper.

Up until 1964 Mounted Officers (ie ranks from Inspector and above) wore a whistle on the cross strap of the Sam Browne belt. Here is a nice example of such a belt, with the holster and the officer pattern ammunition case. The officer pattern case has the closing flap coming from below, rather than the constable's pattern in one of the previous posts.

Here is the reverse, showing the swivel mechanism.

This is a 1968 pattern holster. This type of holster featured a swivel mechanism on the reverse which allowed the holster to sit better when mounted on horseback.

This is the Constable's ammunition case that was worn until 1996.

This is a RCMP Sam Browne belt in stripped order, ie nothing other than the belt and cross-strap.

As promised, here are the remaining items from the collection.

First up a 1914 dated leather belt which was made in Canada and has the snake type belt hook. This was the pattern worn by the NWMP.

This is the certificate for the 4th Class award.

An interesting bandolier that is dated 1941 with a maker mark for Johannesburg. The RCMP wore a bandolier with service dress from the 1930s to about the 1950s but I suspect that this probably belongs elsewhere and got mixed up in the collection.

Mervyn, have you seen this type of bandolier before in South Africa ?

Here is a WWII era Sam Brown belt. This piece is actually named to an officer in the RCASC but it came with the RCMP collection so I am keeping it together.

Here is a pair of officer's leather leggings. They are undated but from about the 1930s to early 50s.

This came along with the RCMP collection I recently acquired, but is not an RCMP related item. It is dated 1941 and made in Winnipeg. I know that the Cameron Highlanders of Ottawa wore a Balmoral but I am not aware of which other Canadian units it could be. Any ideas ?

This is a civilian badge, a nicely made piece.

The final box of stuff arrived today and it was packed full of belts, holsters and other belt gear. I will try to take photos over the weekend and get them posted here. The oldest item is from 1914 but most of it is 1950s to today. :cheers:

Paul - what type of revolver are the holsters for ?

Not sure with what they are currently issued, I need to check this out.

Nicely unit marked on the back of the service holster.

This is the holster and magazine holder that they now use with full dress. I believe they were introduced in 1996 when the RCMP started using an automatic pistol instead of a revolver.
