That's one GREAT item.
Very nice indeed..............pure quality.
I don't know the history behind it...........but I'm turning green.
Here's something I picked up last week for 30 Euro............KPM porcelain plate commemorating 200th anniversary of Fritz's death.

Terrible......!!!
Medal for long-time collectors of Wehrwolf items!
You get the gold one, and I get the silver!

Hi Robin,
I haven't a clue what these badges were awarded for but I too wanted one ever since I saw the same page as you in Purnell's History of the Second World war which I purchased in 1966! Here is the page:
Brings back so many happy memories!

I've eventually managed to get a hold of one of these things.
Wanted one ever since I saw it in 'Purnell's History of The Second World War' back in the 1970s.
Quality-wise, it's like a Golden Party Badge.............fire-gilded bronze with great enamel work and detailing.
Question is.............does anyone know exactly what this was awarded for?
I know there are Waffenring Mackensen Crosses, an Honour Clasp in Silver. etc. etc., for cavalry veterans, but does anyone know what the award criteria stipulated by the WDK were?

Robin, about faded black: Here's a flamethrower pioneer--a former member of Sturmbataillon Nr. 5 (Rohr)--wearing a battered old simplified Waffenrock with black shoulder straps. His cap band is also black. The tonal value of shoulder straps and cap band is dark gray rather than a robust black.
Thanks again, Thomas.
Amazing how black can turn to grey in some of these photos.

Stefan.
The machine-gunners could be from Freikorps Gerth.
Here's another Gerth man......................

Robin, we had a discussion about the small skull. Here is another photo that shows one.
Look at the MG badge (right side)! Again a small skull!
There were more small skulls used than we thought. Not only used on Wehrwolf collar tabs!
Stefan.
That's a GREAT photo!
Some day, the black skull will appear................. :jumping:

Thanks for posting the photo, Thomas. Much appreciated.
Sad to say, but the TK looks grey to me....not black.
