Does anyone know what this is?

Sergeant 08:
I received the card I posted above. Not a black Totenkopf. Dark, but not black.
Thanks, Thomas!
The search continues................

I can't read the name of the park on the back of the card, but it looks Slavic.
I wonder where that 'Lustgarten' was?

Just bought this. The rear says "Meeting of the Black Hand at the park at_________. 1.6.16"
The Black Hand in Serbia was a nationalist organization that fielded assassins who killed Archduke Franz Ferdinand. The Serbian Black Hand also used a skull-and-crossbones motif. I wonder what the story of this postcard is...?
Interesting.
Reminds me of my high school lessons (very MANY years ago!) on the Black Hand and Gavrilo Princep, etc.
But the uniforms look German, not Serbian.

Look at the man standing on the far right, Robin. That looks suspiciously like a very dark Totenkopf sleeve badge.

.........a lot of distinctions melted away as the war went on..............
Lots of genuine anomalies in this thread!

Awwwwwwwwww.........
Thought it was too good to be true!
That's a nice photo though.
Iron Division machine-gunners.
Saw it on eBay.de last week.
More of the same.................

Ooooooooohhhh !
I have a photo that will push Robin and Sgt08 into male menooause.... will scan it this evening.... watch this space....
I can't wait!
Must be either........
1. Photo of the black skull in wear; or
2. Photo of the black skull being faked in Pakistan!
In any case, I think I'm WELL past the menopause stage......... :speechless:

My force is Avon & Somerset.
Congratulations on the medal, Jim.
I think only those of us who have actually 'done their time' in this particular job can appreciate what it means...................all the aggro etc.
I can remember one of my ex-CCs saying that his LSCG medal meant more to him than his CBE, QPM etc.
He felt that the LSCG medal was actually earned by his own efforts............the CBE etc came to him because of the efforts of others! :cheeky:

The bounders!
I had to wait 22 years for mine! :cheeky:

... maybe the maker calculated the effort needed and what he got for them.. then stopped after 2......everytime I am in Northern Ontario I visit an old lady who belongs to a patchwork circle.... any one of them makes stuff more complicated than this.....
......... :cheeky:

PS - Still only two of these blackies have ever appeared on the market.............not the 'deluge' that was expected. Both from the same source.
Being serious (again) for a brief moment, the workmanship and age on the black skull I have (yours will be the same, Stefan), is such that I am totally convinced that it is a period original. And I often take some convincing, I can assure you. :cheeky:

Correct!
PS: The period photo will appear.
Jawohl!
Keep the faith, brother.
We will prove these non-believers wrong...........eventually! :cheeky:

As this has turned into a mega rocka-rolla thread with fingers in every pie, I took the liberty of adjusting the title to show the scope of it all...
Good move!
So that means the black TK that started it all is definitely flammenwerfer, after all!

Good evening, Gentlemen. Is it possible to find/buy somethere original ribbon of this medal? Thanks.
VERY difficult.
It took me about 10 years to find an original piece of ribbon.
Keep searching eBay every day..............one will turn up eventually!

Robin, thanks for the pic.
You're welcome, Paul.
I don't have any showing the medal bar. Nice piece!

I had this illustration done many years ago for one of my SS books.
The central character depicts Fiehler as he would have appeared at the Putsch, in his SAH uniform.
It was actually Himmler who carried the flag, of course, but I used a little poetic licence!

If anyone has other good pics of Fiehler please post them.
Four Putsch veterans, all holders of civic office..............
Graf, Fiehler, Weber & Maurice.

Very interesting, Thomas.
I have learned a lot from this thread.

And, on the subject of Heuschkel.............

Beautiful badge. Too bad real ones never come up for sale.
This is the only contemporary photo I know of showing a Heuschkel badge in any detail. It's from the von Salomon Freikorps book, dating to the 1930s.

Robin, you already had the skull/minenwerfer connection via your henschel badge.
Don.
My mind and memory are shadows of what they once were! :speechless:

I don't think so.
It's on an army shoulder strap.
