And here are some more of the names of the donor officers, who might give a clue as to the date.
Can anyone with better knowledge of Imperial research than me lend a hand here?
Thanks.

There's a finely enamelled guard star on the other side.

Here's the side. (My precious!)

I have just received this goblet. It was presented to Rittmeister Hemmerde by the Officer Corps of the 1st Leibhusaren Regiment. It is engraved with the names of 27 donor officers, who read like a 'Who's Who' of German nobility. It's made by Wagner in 750 silver.
The thing is - there's no date on it.
Can anyone tell me who Rittmeister Hemmerde was, and when he served in the Leibhusaren?
Judging by the engraving, I think it might be mid-19th Century.
Here's the front.

Looks OK to me. An enlisted man's/NCO's patch for the Kaiserslautern SS Standarte c.1933-4.

Robin,
Since he was passed to the reserves in 1913, he was undoubtedly called up in 1914 to fill the regiment up to wartime strength. Best bet for an enlisted man, would be to find the regimental history. You may luck out and find a picture of him. If he is not in the roll of honor, then he survived the war and you will at least know where he served, what battles he participated in etc. I would try the many sellers of these items in Germany, in particular Helmut Weitze usually has a large number of these. Good luck, I hope you find him.

Thanks Dan.

Anyone seen this type before? It's coming from Braunau-am-Inn, of all places.

Pity he won't be here in time for Halloween.

Here are his details.....

But is there any way of getting details on the original owner - a Gefreiter?

Robin-
Is there any base plate to which the hinge is attacehd to the base? What is the weight of this piece? Thanks
No base plate.
Sorry - I don't have scales. But it's HEAVY.

I think the second one from the bottom has distinct possibilities.

Is there any sign of the hinge and pin being replaced ?
Mike.
None at all. The whole thing is untouched.

Robin, is this in someone's collection you know? Or one you found on-line?
Darrell.
It's mine. I've had it for 20-odd years. The only DK in Gold I've ever owned.
I also have a standard '1' marked Deschler DK in Silver which is identical in every way to this Gold one.
The Gold DK seems to be a standard Deschler, but with a Zimmermann pin mark.
Could Deschler have sold stocks to Zimmermann?
Who knows?

...and here's how the French saw him....in the same outfit.

Here's how the Germans saw their Crown prince, in his Death's Head Hussar uniform......

.....but has a Zimmermann mark.

....is apparently a Deschler.......

Here's an oddity.
This DK............

That's great information.
Many thanks to you both.
