    1. Hello Mervyn.

      You're right re. the pension.

Those going off at 25 years got a lot less than those sticking it out for the whole 30 years.

All to do with the pension 'multiplier' calculations (boring!!).

A PC I knew once asked what it would cost him in pension entitlements if he retired a couple of months before his 30 was up. (He had another job in the offing).

It would have cost him over £40k in lump sum losses ................... needless to say, he turned down the job offer and finished his 30 !!

Nice to see a George VI Police LSGC. There aren't many of these around. My old granddad had one.

    2. Latest skull addition.

      Fire-gilded brass, c. 1900.

      5cm in height .............

Appears semi-Prussian, but came from a Brunswick estate.

Looks like it has 'three bones'.

The other pix show similar 'three bones' TKs .............. and a Brunswick 'Black Duke' variant worn on early busbies etc.

      Another odd one.

    3. Steve has just completed this M18 helmet showing the shield of my Arms ............... fantastic work.

Love the 'distressed' condition !! :)

I'll let the pix speak for themselves, but by way of brief explanation the shield has been painted, after the style of contemporary Munich heraldic meister Otto Hupp, on the left side of the helmet only, in the manner used by several Freikorps formations (e.g. the Grenzschutz Ost shown also), 1919-20.

Many thanks again, Steve !! :)
