Odulf thank you for the information it is appreciated. Unfortunately the medal group is not mine. I am looking for a similar group to complete one I have to an officer in the South African Navy. This officer had previous service in the Royal Netherlands Naval Reserve in WW2 being captured by the Japanese in Batavia 4th March 1942.

The recipient's service papers are available from the South African Archives. Contact South African Researcher Dewald Nel dewald@nelantiques.co.za who should be able to retrieve the record for you. Obviously there is a fee. He does my South African Navy research & I would highly recommend him.

Thank you for the translation it is appreciated. I have now sourced the medal in silver. What I would like to complete the medal is the Mounting Device & Buckle? in silver as in the attached image. Any ides on a source for these would be appreciated. I intend to mount in a frame the Diploma & Medal together.

Would appreciate advice on confirming the award of a GRAND OFFICER NATIONAL ORDER OF MERIT recipient Admiral FERNANDO EDUARDO PINTO de ORNELAS e VASCONCELOS Portuguese Navy. Is there an official government publication that details awards? or an official archive I could contact? Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Have now confirmed award from the BOLETIN OFICIAL DEL ESTADO GACETA DE MADRID 21st January 1966.

Now need to find an Order of Naval Merit can any members help?
