The belt would be either black or brown, depending on the officer's preference. The buckle would be after the 1902 style, for officers of the Kaiserliche Marine. The belt in the image is the dress Schärpe, which in most likelihood would have only been worn with the pre-war blue uniform.

My name is Robbie Asplund. I'm attempting to honor Josef Wirtz of MFJ-I for our project. But yes, Wirtz was a Marineflieger who died in combat in April 1917. He died as a Vizeflugmeister, but I'm as yet unsure what that rank translates to on the uniform. Flugmeister and Oberflugmeister I know, but how the "Vize-" is represented on the uniform is beyond me at the moment.

What a wonderful thread. Over here in the states, we have a small dedicated group that has a Kaiserliche Marine living history impression that we put together for the centennial. My part in this project is portraying a Flugmeister of Marine-Feld-Jagdstaffel I. Here is a potential photo for the pilot's license I had made up.
