Shot of bottom of base without the cloth.Can't remove at this time because one screw is frozen and stripped.Is there likely to be anything helpful under there? Several at WAF thought it was a repo-bad cast,should be hollow,replacement base. Been studying the threads-a lot of different birds out there and a lot of expertise. I just wonder what I have. Thanks for helping. Steve

Here it is without the Vasoline.As Pete correctly points out,it is zinc.Re: fakes-In my travels,I was surprised to find many low-priced items faked,crudely,but why bother???I do think this one is good. Best regards,Steve

Called a " common fake".Said to be "obvious ".Not to me.Perhaps I'm too obtuse.Anyway,I'd appreciate it if somebody could walk me through it,perhaps with a side-by-side comparison with an original. Thankful for any help. Steve

Jock I'm really not sure.It comes from a reputable source. The "finish" on the obverse is from a touch of Vasoline.I was treating some of my zincers and got carried away. Regards,Steve
