Hi all. I've recently become interested in china and have acquired some nice pieces. I have one piece that has the maker mark under the glaze and the national eagle on top. Somebody told me these were reproductions, that they were always marked under the glaze along with the other marks. I remember reading somewhere that the German china manufacturers also made china for export and did not place the Nazi marks on all of their pieces prior to glazing and firing. Some of these that ended up used by the Nazis were marked later. Does anyone know what the story is on this?

Hi Uwe,
Thanks! I thought as much.

Hi all. A friend has asked me if I know anything about this. I don't and I was unable to find anything either. Anybody know anything about it.? Sorry about the quality of the pictures but they are what I was given.

I'd say that the top one looks okay. I don't know about the bottom one though. It just looks odd to me.

I guess I should have mentioned that it was a single. My fault.

Well, it is a single. I thought $50 was too high. But I was unsure. Now a set, that would be different.

Thank you Paul!

What do you think is a fair price to pay for a tab like the one I posted? Is $50 too much?

My thoughts exactly Paul. When I first saw them I thought they looked suspicious right away.

I don't think these are original do you?

I like those! I just picked up a nice Major's medical tab but it's not a reserve.

Thank you Paul! I had no idea. I didn't even think about the reserves. I really appreciate the lesson sir!

Thanks. I didn't know that. I learned something new today!

Hi guys. Did they produce these with double color piping like this? I spotted this for sale yesterday and thought it looked funny. I've seen a lot of tabs but I don't think I've ever seen any like this.

lol... that would explain it!
Yep, that'd do it! I saved the best for last!

How can you tell? I want to learn something! Eagles are not my focus.

Paul
Hi Paul. Well, one look told me that it was brand new. The color, the ridge around the outside that is characteristic of a modern embroidered patch. I also looked at the material the patch was made of and it looks very modern to me. And the big giveaway, I just recently saw these for sale at a flea market for about $9 each.

I see what you mean about the picture. It does look blue or black doesn't it? Must be the camera. I held some black and navy blue material next to it and it's for sure a dark green. Always happy to share!

At first I thought it might be black but it appears to be dark green. Too bad. Black would have made it a real find. But I'm still happy with it.

Thank you sir!

Thanks. I've blacklighted it and nothing glows. But just from the fact that the paper backing is still partially there, and it has all those little "things" you like to see tells me it's a good one.

That's a vey nice eagle but it's a new one. It's 100% modern embroidery.
