    1. Hi Chris,

Are you sure ?  I always thought only two could be worn on a bar - - anyway - the mans name was Gloy and he was from the Hamburg area - that is all I know about him. I think he  would have had a Golden Party too.

In 30+ years collecting I have only ever seen 4 genuine 25 NSDAP LS Crosses - so I reckon they are rare - - it is my best piece (tho I do also have a first pattern Blood Order).

A good thread this - - I am enjoying it - - all things political are my great love  !!

      Thanks to all contributors.

I think you might be thinking of the "Flower Wars" medals.

    2. That purple ribbon likely belongs to a pre-1915 Reuss ?House Order?

award (w/swords?). That would tie in with ribbon #4.

      Just a guess.

Did a little bit more digging based on that nudge there, and yep, it's the pre-1914 version of the ribbon in 4th place (which after the war started was awarded either with or without swords). Given the size of Reuss, there couldn't have been all that many possible recipients.

    3. Military Awards not reintroduced are few. Even the Anti-Partisan was allowed in 57 form but not the Spanish Cross ( seen as political) and the so called "Flowers Wars" medals, seen as foir Nazi agression and expansionism.

The only way I'd be able to afford a gold APB any time this century... blush.gif

    4. That is a distinct possibility. I have a bar with the West Wall medal filling in for the Life Saving medal.

The Baden voluntary war aid ribbon doesn't fit, IMHO - either in terms of what it is, or where it is on the bar. I can't really figure out what else that ribbon could realistically be representing... blush.gif

    5. ...plus the blue is a little different. It's damn near exactly the same blue as the blue of the Bavarian Long Service decoration, or the blue and white version of the Prince Alphons brooch thingy.

Here are a couple additional pictures I've found on the website of a collector that specializes in Red Cross decorations:

At the moment, my best guess is that it might be some sort of obscure shooting award or some hitherto unknown (unofficial?) dynastic award. There is a precedent for one of the other Prince Alphonse brooch ribbons being recycled on a shooting medal, and I can't help but wonder if that's what ultimately happened here.

Thanks so much for sharing, but alas, no remedy to my madness. :speechless-smiley-004:

    6. Ah. Well at least we know that at least some of Weidinger's personal effects have survived to the present day, and entered onto the collector's market. As much of an insane long shot as it might be, I'm hoping that one of these days, a photo will surface. My bar had been narrowed down to seven possibles, only one of which I've been able to eliminate from the running.

Of course, now I've got the "it's a small world" jingle running through my head. Ugh.

    7. Unfortunately, there was a 4X bar to the same guy with no LS, just his WW1 combat awards........ some poor schlub in Germany now owns an anonymous bar and has no clue, as did the seller, that this was a very, very special group.

Perchance did you hang on to the photo of this earlier bar? For some inexplicable reason I've got the urge to stare at the swords on the Friedrichsorden to see if Weidinger ever shopped for ribbon bars somewhere where they stocked interesting s-hilted devices...
