Oh dear can you imagine if I posted a selfie of that on the other forum? I'd never live it down! I have to say I have a Grenadier Guards not 2 Dress Jacket that is very difficult to not want to wear all the time, it's sooo smart I have the forage cap too so could do a whole Guards themed selfie shoot I have another little headdress project underway I'll post it on both forums when its complete, thankfully not as drastic, other than the purchase of a very expensive badge that will hopefully be with me today or Monday, and a little bit of sewing.

Hey, it was already destroyed, I have merely brought it back to life . I couldn't leave it in that state. Well I could but it would have made me weep every time I looked at it. Poor thing. Priceless? it was less than £50, it needed me! And the first option I would think. I like those stamps, those stamps kept me going when my fingers were bleeding. The pain, the misery..... Alli

Cleaning Guards Bearskin

I like dirty badges, I have deliberately bought filthy badges, but belt buckles are different, particularly if they are modern. Have done the deed and cleaned the chin strap, and a bit of saddle soap as well, pretty sure it's not to Guards standard but as I don't have any scary SM's to shout at me it will do. Funnily enough, I think if I collected medals I would probably clean them though. -

Yikes! see mothers know best. The chin strap has just arrived for the bearskin so looks like I'll be spending Easter weekend stitching and cleaning the chinstrap, its lovely and mucky. I love cleaning metal. I don't touch my badges but I fully admit to cleaning my stable belt buckles Alli -

Its ok Peter as you can see on another thread about it, it's not as bad as anticipated, just needs a liner and a bit of needlework. I'm very relieved, didn't want to go near it with dye. Alli -
