Hey there - it has been a while
My latest aquisition is a nice picture of a member of the "Marine-Flieger-Abteilung". I like - besides the quality of the photograph - the "modern" look of this young man:
Nowadays he would be called a "hipster" with his stylish beard and tattoo ...

The picture is clipped from an album and titled "1. Fokkertraining at Sandhofen" (thats near Mannheim) - should be January 1916.
I misread one name, though:
From the left are depicted: Wirth, Hauptmann (died), Arns, Mayer, Haggenmüller, Schnell and Ditzuleit, naval landplane flyers alltogether. There was another picture of the same bunch...

Here we have the picture of one H. Backhausen from Lehe. I´m not so sure what badge he´s wearing - first I thought it was an airgunners badge...

Seefliegerstation List, the pilots name is Karl Klussmann and he´should be the man on the left.
(The guy doesn´t look like it, though. Maybe the information is not true - I would think of him as one of the men in leather ...)
Note how big the naval airplanes were!

Some pics I´ve found on my computer...mostly from ebay.
They fit in here pretty good:

3. pilot (?) - what happened to his badge? Looks like a cut-out version or is it a flaw on the picture?

This little "precious" arrived just the other day - I think one doesn´t see them too often:
A miniature (or Prinzen) sized marine observer without hardware, probably meant for a clasp.
Measuring 45 mm from the tip of the cross to the bottom of the bow (49 mm with the loop included) and 30 mm at the broadest part.
Decorated with a sweethearts engraving and date (purportedly of their marriage).
Made of guilded silver, with "800" and "halfmoon and crown stamping", little traces of wear on the obverse.
I would assume by it´s style and the way the stamps look like that it was made by Schaper...
I like it.

Hey Hey!
It´s been some time - but now I have two more interesting specimens of naval flight badges to show to you:
Both are slightly "off-mainstream" but I like them a lot. These are hollow examples, which is seen not too often in "naval flight badging"
The regular size has been heavily polished down to the brass, so that only little remnants of gilding are still visible.
The prinzen size has the finish in the sun area cleared away, so the silver is showing (800 punch in the suspension) - maybe for a more dramatic look.
I have no concerns regarding the originality of these badges, so I decided to post them here...
