Here is a picture of a cased cross presented in a german magazine. The cross is presented as original, but I've been told that this green case isn't. In fact I don't know which color the diamonds cross cases were made of?
Period pics taken during the ceremony are not clear enough to determine the color of the case.

Sorry, I totally forgot to post the promised pics. As I said, these come from another forum, presented as Harlinghausen cross which he continued to wear during his service in the Bundesluftwaffe.

looking at these early badges, they all have a fragile attach system, sometimes repaired. This could explain the Spain period pics showing it sewn.

I think the first type of badges never had catch, badges have been sewn to a uniform.
P.S. Gentleman's, excuse me for my English
Jacque's photos:
No I don't think so. the badges had a pin, but in case of break they used to sewn it.

on this pics he is wearing Panzer Rgt.6 number on the shoulder boards. This pic is prior to 1944 because he don't wear the DK, nevertheless he is already well decorated.
medals bar: EK2, 4 years service medal, Oct 38, Afrika, Cruz roja, Medalla de la campa?a.
Spanish cross in silver,
EK1, LC panzer badge, Panzerkampf badge, Wounded badge,
He was awarded the DK, and I suppose he also got the Afrika cuff title.
