    1. Being a sucker for postal-related items from all combatants during WW2, I found this for purchase and immediately bought it.  I know that the design of the letter indicates it is military mail, and it looks like it has a censor stamp on it.  However, the actual contents are a mystery.  Can anyone give a brief translation?

      Thank you in advance.

    2. I've recently acquired this interesting Japanese paper item which I assume is from the 1930's or 1940's.  One one side, it has several medals while on the other is a battlefield scene.  Also, included on the back side are air insignia of Japan and other world powers.  I didn't see any staple holes so I'm inclined to think this wasn't in a book or magazine.  However, I'm a bit puzzled as to what was the purpose of the poster since it is dual-sided and what entity printed it.  Does anyone have any idea if this was printed by the Japanese government, school system, military, or private publisher and to what purpose?  I assume the medals side is to educate on Japanese medals.  However, I'm unsure about the battle scene.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Card from Army Minister Yoshiyuki Kawashima dated September 16, 1935 regarding Saga prefecture national defense association air defense maneuvers with the use of large air sound detectors Type 90 that will take place on September 25, 1935.

Thank you for the prompt response!  I would have never guessed the subject matter.

      Thank you again.

    4. I have this mystery item that I'm hoping someone can help me identify.  This item looks like a document of some kind about the size of a postcard, and it came with a portrait photograph of a Japanese army officer.  Given the star at the top, I'm assuming that the item is Japanese army-related but that's about as far as my knowledge goes.

Can anyone shed any light on what this card/document is?

      Thank you in advance.

    5. I acquired this mystery shoulder rank and have been unable to get a solid identification for it. I believe it is naval-related and possibly Italian since it came with a confirmed WW2 Italian infantry shoulder rank.  The bullion emblem on the board I did find was used by the Italian navy for mine men, but I don't know if other Navies used the same emblem.

Is this an Italian Navy shoulder rank and, if so, what time period?

Any help anyone can provide is greatly appreciated.

      Thanks in advance.

Hi, It appears to be a commemorative or souvenir medallion of the Iraqi Armed forces and dates from the 1958-63 Abdulkarim Qassem period. The text is blurred/unclear. From my notes the design on the reverse is an,

"equilateral triangle written bearing the letter “J” in Koufic (old Arabic) script and represents the strength of the army and its merging with the people."

'J' is the first letter of jaish = army. Regards, Owain

Thank you for the information.  It's great to know the time frame it was made.  (I assumed Saddam period given how crude the item was constructed, but it's a pleasant surprise given I'm starting to collect pre-Saddam Iraqi items.)

      Thanks again for your help.

      Trident is a total scam.

As some of you know i've been collecting Cuban militaria since 2005. He wrote to me a few days ago on ebay asking very detailed questions about uniforms: type of internal labels, number of pockets and other details. Then, perhaps absently, wrote something he shouldn't have. Answering a specific question here is what he wrote. Today it's clear enough that he sells cunterfait ranks and uniforms.

Indeed.  They do have original pieces but have a lot of (being very charitable) questionable items.

Hello again ! I have not see but is very possible the existence of Cupones printed over the first sheet of good paper available .the paper was also rationed .

Thank you for your answer.  That does make sense to print things on the back of existing paper products like posters if paper too was rationed.

      Thanks again.

Hello ,After the Spanish Civil War end in 1939 the newly created Estado Español instituted the Rationing Tickets known as Cupones de Racionamiento. They existed until 1952 ,they were 13 long years of hunger or half hunger for the majority of the Spaniards . Why it was imposed ? first the Country was exhausted with a Economy near destroyed and Great Debt ,second the Second World War and the Spanish neutrality left Spain nearly Blocked .

Thank you for your response.  Have you seen Cupones like these printed in similar fashion (ie on the back of a poster)?

    10. I've had this in my collection for a while, but I have wondered if it is a legit piece or if it is a fantasy item.  It is supposed to be unused ration tickets from 1941 printed on the back of a poster of General George Custer.  Can anyone confirm whether Spain actually used ration coupons like this during the WW2 years?

      Thanks in advance

    11. I recently found some items that were supposed to be Iraqi leaflets from the Gulf War of 1990-1991.  However, these don't look like any leaflets I've seen from the time period used by either the Iraqis or coalition forces.  These look to be documents of some sort, but I'm unsure what they could be.  Has anyone come across anything like this before? Thank you all  in advance for any assistance you can provide.
