Unless I am mistaken you have a 4th class and a 3rd class Golden Kite
Larry,
Thanks for the reply. You are correct. They are a 3rd Class and a 4th class Golden Kite. I could not get a good example of the ring attached to the medal for the 4th class and used the 3rd class image. But the ring was the same for the 4th Class. I only want to know why there are two different types of ring attachment.
This is an image of the 4th Class with the ring I am asking about. I believe the difference is that one attaches to a neck ribbon and the other attaches to a medal ribbon. Is there a difference in age. Can you also tell me the era of the two medals???

I have seen several different mountings for the ring attached to the Golden Kite 4th Class to the larger ring that attaches to the ribbon. See attached images,
What is the difference in the two mounting rings? and what is the difference in the ribbons??? Is one late and the other a reproduction??

Japan X,
Are you saying the medal is an original, 4th class from the Meji epoch period and the ribbon is a reproduction?
I paid $536.00 for the medal. Did I get taken???
