Please post a photo of the back of the row of medals that appear to be connected in some manner.
The single wound-medal is nicely aged and shows traces of honest wear, whereas the ribbon from which it hangs looks fresh and unused. Serious collectors of these medals try to match the level of aging and patina of the ribbon to those of the medal.
Hello, the backing for the Medal Bar was an older piece of cord, that was pretty well shot. It basically fell apart. To be honest, I restrung the medals on a pipe cleaner to keep them together.
I know what you mean about the Wound Medal ribbon. I used the great info you posted on my question about ribbon originality, and it appears to me that the ribbon is not modern. I do think as you suggest that the medal has been added to an unused ribbon.
Thanks so much as always for your input!

Hey all, so....what is one way(s) you can tell if a trifold ribbon is original or a modern reproduction?
Any info would be great!
Thanks as always!

Hey all, I upgraded the display for my A-H collection, got some nice wood cases from Southern Star Displays (Great folks to deal with BTW) and ditched the Riker boxes they were in. Just thought it would add some class. Also, got another medal (Iron Cross of Merit) and will be getting a couple more in the mail here soon (I hope!).
Here's the collection as of today (my photography still sucks!)And yes, that is a family portrait - from 17 years ago

Here, here! Very nice indeed. Perhaps someday......I'll have such a "modest" collection.
Got any extras you want to unload? I'll be happy to help you out.
Thanks all for your kind words and comments on mine. Much appreciated!

Hello all, I recently ordered some wood display cases to replace the Riker's I'm using now. The wood cases are 2" deep and the stands I'm using now for the Riker's is only about an inch or so deep.
I think I'll need a stand with more depth to handle the wood cases. Can't seem to find one, hoping someone here might point me in the right direction.
Another thought would be to extend what I have now. I thought maybe a couple of covered screws? Your thoughts please!
Here's the stand I'm using now
