    2. Hey all, my son Jim gave me an early birthday present today.  He hand drew and painted the Hapsburg Coat of Arms to accentuate my A-H collection.  He's very talented as you can see.  He's a great son!!!!

Here's a couple of pictures of it

      Best Regards,

    4. Hey all, I upgraded the display for my A-H collection, got some nice wood cases from Southern Star Displays (Great folks to deal with BTW) and ditched the Riker boxes they were in. Just thought it would add some class. Also, got another medal (Iron Cross of Merit) and will be getting a couple more in the mail here soon (I hope!).

Here's the collection as of today (my photography still sucks!)

And yes, that is a family portrait - from 17 years ago

Here, here! Very nice indeed.  Perhaps someday......I'll have such a "modest" collection.

Got any extras you want to unload?  I'll be happy to help you out.

Thanks all for your kind words and comments on mine.  Much appreciated!

    6. Hello all, I recently ordered some wood display cases to replace the Riker's I'm using now. The wood cases are 2" deep and the stands I'm using now for the Riker's is only about an inch or so deep.

I think I'll need a stand with more depth to handle the wood cases. Can't seem to find one, hoping someone here might point me in the right direction.

Another thought would be to extend what I have now. I thought maybe a couple of covered screws? Your thoughts please!

Here's the stand I'm using now

Any ideas or suggestions would be great!

      Thanks as always!

    7. Hello all, I recently started to collect military awards of the A-H Empire. It's been a blast so far, and I have many more to go. Just thought I'd show what I have so far. Not many expensive pieces, but a start.

      So.................here's my modest collection

Still looking for a 3, 4 and 5 Wound Medal

Sorry about the picture quality, I'm a crappy photographer!

      Best,

      Greg

My advice is to start by buying from a reputable Austrian Dealers. Once you hold originals you will have the feeling.

Do not start from not known sellers on eBay, although on eBay.de (Germany) there is a Reputable Austrian Dealer who has a shop. He also has a online shop out of eBay.

Thanks for the tip!  Could you give me a link to his shop or PM the info if you so wish.

      Thanks again!

    9. Hey all, I want to start collecting A-H awards, but I'm very green on this subject.  I plan on starting with common medals and try to "work my way up".

My question is, are there any good resources to help me determine fakes/repros from originals (books, sites etc)?

Any good sources/dealers to buy from?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

      Thanks!

      Greg
