Hello Gents,
I have a query as the Anhalt bar has arrived and is in my sweaty ( not really sweaty..) hands...
The Bulgarian war medal...the finish is so bright it looks almost a fake!
Now have these been faked( i think not as they are common as muck!) but the finish is weird....
Anyone else care to comment? have the gents got examples of these to show?
Thankings you kindly
Paul

Hello Gents,
This one came in the post today!
A lovely single Mecklenberg cross
unfortunately it has been sewn on back to front...( i was led to understand that the FF was to the front...)
It was touch and go as the seller did not show a pic of the reverse of the bar, and i was sweating a bit ...thinking that it was pirated from a medal bar and would not have the felt backing i so desire...
But alls well that ends well...as i when i got it today...i was pleasantly surprised to see that it had a nice grey cloth backing, yum yum!
The cross also appears to have been sewn down to the bottom of the ribbon as there is some gold thread still there but the medal has come unattached from the thread and hangs loosley.
The cross itself is in very good condition...
How many of these were awarded? and how many of the first class were awarded?
Thanks Gents
Kind regards
Paul

Hello Gents,
I scored all these ribbons some i can see are German but some are unknown as yet....
Some i will be keeping...as i have medals for them....If anyone see's one they desperately Need....i will send to them...free of charge!
like some of the other Gents being generous elsewhere...and in keeping with this spirit.....
Will post better pics when they arrive!
I posted two pics ...one i made slightly bigger for detail?
I think that the topmost one is a ribbon for an English Neck order....CBE? not sure...
But what is the strange one with the two colors? Green and Yellow????
Comments invited!

Hello Gents,
I have several KO crosses but only tow not on bars, and they have different cores...one would have the dates up high and the 'W' is standing out more proud than the other one which has the dates down low..the crowns are different with the low date having a low crown and the high dated on the crown it sticking out more proud
Maybe the gents at 'KO' contracted out the core making and thusly they come from different sources...
Hmmm, food for thought....
Kind regards
Paul

David,
I agree..you do need to have a basic understanding of the language to decipher the script...but my biggest gripe is the writing style...its the sort of writing you have to really study to ascertain which and what letters are being used to portray the words....for example...Karlsberg...looks like tarlsberg in the script..bit confusing if you had no idea...but i did know of Karlsberg....
Yes i am now starting to see the wisdom in having the groups...it really does tell us more...about the man who went thru the wars and earned the 'gongs'........... brilliant stuff! and ..........it tells us
about the" PERSON" involved....this is my first real group...and i have asked the seller if he has more...and if he has contact with the family....I wanna know more! ( and i want a pic of the soldier! and i want the Soldbuch!..... it just makes it more real!)
Cheers mate! for sharing your experience with reading and deciphering these important pieces of History
Kind regards
Paul

Gents,
I do not condone this sort of behaviour at all!
and i am ashamed to say i have bought a bar of him....
the only thing wrong with it...was either he..or someone else had replaced the pin with a poor excuse of a pin...Blimmin thing had scorch marks from being run thru the grinder to remove the swarf from the end of the pin..the sharp end...Gawd!
But this sort of mutilation is INEXCUSABLE!!!!
would the gents like his E-mail....to bombard him with cries of
"Shame on you".... i can supply it for this purpose.....evil grin....he heh!
