Hello again Gents,
I ahve bought a Bavarian bar on E-bay and will need t replace one medal with the correct Bavarian DA 9yrs service medal.
My Question is on the MVK, Militar Verdienst Kreuz
Now what abbreviations should be used when describing the medal shown? as it has both crown and swords...and what class is this one...the 3rd?
I have already sourced a 9yr to complete the bar and restore it back to original.
Seems to be me lately...getiing a few fix-up bars...oh well, someones gotta do it...
Cheers for the help gents!
Regards
Paul

Hello Gents,
Have been offered this bar with 1870-71 medal and centarmedaille, with these two bars on it.
I am not an expert in these bars, s i would like someone who is knowledgeable in these to comment on them and assure me that they are ok.
Thnks so much!
Best regards
Paul

Great Bars Gents!
Alas...i have no saxon ribbon bars as yet, but have several medalbars.
Stogieman, the post #29 where you have General Stengel had you noticed that his Generals collar tabs are on backwards?
It looks rather strange....Wonder how this would be ???
Cheers Gents

Gents, i was surfing the evilbay as you do.....
And i spotted this!
http://cgi.ebay.de/GERMAN-Prussian-Medal-B...1QQcmdZViewItem
This person is destroying a HUGE group!....he is selling off everything piece by peice!
The medal bar! selling all of the medals seperately!
the group is of father and son! and has all the documents too!
I just wish the seller would have the sense to sell TOGETHER! as a lot...to keep it together....
Rant Rave.....

Hi Wild Card,
Yes i agree, Bob is right, Mr Research is pretty darn good at what he does!
I do understand the loss u feel of these fine gentlemen...and the information they had between them is really important.
Nimmerguts Magnum opus...Hmmm, ok sounds huge...tell me more..
Specialised publications huh? wow! it can get really interesting then.
So there is nothing that just covers the different states and duchies major awards and service medals.... not the endless varieties, of the high end ones like the Prussian Red eagle order. From, which we can refer to the In the specialized publications...?
and By the way David....Nice Bars!!
Cheers

Thanks Rick!
I have put a 15Yr cross on the bar to see how it looks....
what do the Gents think? I like it with this medal rather than a 25Yr TR item...
it seems to fit well enough but is not on the supporting ring holder...so may really have been the 25Yr TR medal. As you may have noticed...i tucked the blue ribbon behind the HK ribbon...its better and more uniform that way..dont you think?
This same 15Yr looks good on the bigger bar...and it fits in the ribbon groove really well....when you do the Moses and the red sea thang....but for Originalitys sake...i will put in a 25Yr Prussian Long service medal.
Would the Gentlemen agree with the idea of the 25Yr Prussian medal for the bigger bar?
Thankyou for your help!
Best regards
Paul

Thanks Bob! will look forward to seeing the collection!
Can i ask u a question?
I want to find out if there is a comprehensive compilation on the form of a good book, that shows with good pics and describes Imperial German awards from 1813 to say..1934?
Is there such a book? and where can i buy this?
Thanks!

I can add three bars with Black backing.
I am not sure at the designation of the colours....
But am keen for a knowledgable member to fill us in...
I only collect them if they have a backing....i do not like the look of the metal backing plate....Ugleeee!
Cheers Gents

Gents ...I am seeing RED here!
in Germany: Imperial: The Orders, Decorations and Medals of The Imperial German States
Posted
Well, i am going to keep an eye on it anyway...and see what happens...
I am tempted to try for the Medal LESS Bar...could replace the medlas individually easily enough...
BUT!
I would like the whole group! and its thanks to people like this...we nver get to see these groups together ...even for sale....as GREEDY MONGRUELS want MONEY....so they just tear up History willy nilly and dont give a toss for History or that persons contribution...
Harrrrumph!
Gone to have a scotch...to calm down.....

Paul
