I'd had this a while, never knew what it was until now - I'd assumed that it was Australian, NZ, Canadian infantry..

Surely it was George Dixon the poor old bugger was at Dock Green into his 80's and that was after he was killed in " The Blue Lamp "!
He was'nt a real copper though - he said "mind how you go" as if he meant it & not with the hint of menace - the unspoken "or else" with which it is properly said.......

He served in the Rebellion and South West Africa beforehand, so there should be a card for SWA in the archives as well.
Many English speaking South Africans transfered to the british Army after SWA and were commisioned, maybe that was the case with his brother.
And I think there's some kind of family link with Lincs - a quick search on the web threw up a Tedder school in that county, may be something, may be nothing............
