A friend happened by yesterday with a small handfull of things that had come from his Grandmother's Button Box. Among the odds and ends were 4 dime sized buttons, made by Firmin & Sons, London. I've spent some time looking and can't seem to find an image in any of my books or the places I've looked on the net, like this great site: https://asahelena.wixsite.com/militarybuttons.
So, Gentlemen and Ladies, what is the story on this button?

Since it came with a bunch of stuff from a Canadian veteran, I suspect that the ribbon was what was on it back in 1944 or 45 when it was acquired. Matters not, we have it identified and that's the key piece. Thanks again for your help.

Thank you, bolewts58. That's very helpful. One would assume that someone all those decades ago chose to use this ribbon because they couldn't source the proper one.
