Hello
I am in the final stages of putting together a book on the Imperial German kS98 sawback (service and dress issue).
My apologies if this message is getting to you for the second (or more) times but I would very much appreciate hearing from anyone who has one or more kS98 sawback bayonets in their collection or knows of someone not on GMIC with a collection.
The usefulness of the book depends very much on how many kS98 have been surveyed. At present it is just over 600 but the more the merrier. Everyone who contributes is acknowledged in the book.
With best wishes
Allan

Thanks Chris. There do seem to be quite a few photos of DSWA schutztruppen around so hoping that someone might have a clue?
Cheers, Allan
PS still keen on seeing your Alpine photos with kS98s in action!

Hello everyone
Does anyone have any definitive evidence as to when kS98 started to be issued to DSWA troops. I have heard it mentioned that it was around 1910 but without any proof. I am hoping that it might be possible to put a date on this from photographic evidence? The year stamp on the back of the kS98 blade is of no value whatsoever in this instance.
Best wishes,

Hi Chris - that would be a venture too far for this book. Sawbacks only. Even then, I decided to catalog and include the dress kS98 sawbacks and am so far up to variation number 42!
Best wishes
