      Jersey Buoy,

That’s a very nice example of a belt with enameled branch of service insignia, thanks for posting. That’s the arm shield for the Infantry (al-Misha’a in Arabic). That particular design was used until around 2000 (I think, need to consult my notes).

      Owain,

Your example may be a keychain. It’s particularly nice in that the reverse reads “Infantry Day, 2 April 1972.” That establishes several things: The specific date for the Infantry branch’s commemorative day, that your award was presented to an exemplary infantry enlisted man or officer, and that this particular design was used as early as 1972.

      Best,

      Chris

Thank you for your informative posting.

    2. Finally found mention of a Cuban Guards unit on line.

2nd Guards Aviation Brigade Girón Beach

The Playa Girón Guard Aviation Brigade, based in San Antonio de los Baños, is an elite unit of the DAAFAR. The San Antonio de los Baños air base was built at the end of the Second World War. In 1976, the unit stationed there received the current name of the Playa Girón Guards Aviation Brigade. In April 1961, was responsible for the defense of Cuba during the Bay of Pigs Invasion.[13] Among its notable members was Cuban cosmonaut Arnaldo Tamayo Méndez. It is a recipient of the Antonio Maceo Order, which was awarded to it in 2014 on its 55th anniversary.[14] In October 2019, the regiment called for the immediate release of former Brazilian President and leader of the Workers Party, Luis Inacio Lula da Silva.[15]

    3. Hola,

      Gracias.

    4. Greetings Friends!

I realize this is an old thread but I just picked up 2 Cuban Guards off of ePay for what I would consider cheap.

I have as of yet found any information concerning who would be issued this badge and why and I can't find one picture of an Abuela o abuelo wearing one.

Does anyone out there have said information?

      Thank you all in advance.

      Thank you.

That  infantry buckle is loooooong gone.

I have another buckle, Alphonso XIII crown, Infantry, but it is stamped brass.

I think most of them were de-crowned and used by both side in the Spanish Civil War.

I will post it tonight after work. about 2000hrs., EST, USA.

      Here it is.
