You are quite right... it does have a copper plated core.
Deumer it is then!

Judging by the number-design I'd say Deumer.These crosses usually have a copper-plated iron core.

You are quite right about the pin... it has been slightly shortened/sharpened at some time in its past. You can just see the marks on the photo of the clip I posted. This was one of the first things I noticed about this cross

The four prong versions that exist are usually made of zinc or a non-magnetic alloy and are the replacement or LDO duplicate pieces. The three prong steel version being the initial award pieces.
