Hi Mike Many thanks for the info. Great stuff. I sent an email to both of those addresses and did get a "returned mail" to the archives email address that has Edmond Charles Troccaz. Could you please check for me to see if this is correct. The message was "address rejected: access denied". The other email address Emile Jean Troccaz, I assume, went through as I received no backlash of an error report. Tim PS..... are you interested in the War of 1812 ? There is a big military badge collecting show in Ontario in 2012. Probably some reacting going on too I would suspect.

Mike and Veteran Many thanks for all your help in this. Much appreaciated. I do believe that Charles Troccaz was an uncle. On the war memorial is simply the name E. Troccaz. Maybe Charles was still in the Yukon when the memorial was built and the nephew's names was added. A avenue that needs to be checked out. I have another question if you can still help me out. Is there any way to find out the citation for the MM or the Croix de Guerre ? Thanks again, Tim

How do I research a French MM from the 1st WW that was awarded to a soldier, not necessary a Canadian or Commonwealth but possibly a French or Russian maybe ? All I have is a name, E. TROCCAZ, MM (Fr), from a Canadian war memorial in the Yukon Territory. I do not know what army this fellow was with let alone by the spelling of his last name, what nationality he was. Nor do I have his date of death. All I know was that he may have been a gold miner living in the Yukon Territory in and around 1914. Can anyone help me out perhaps or know where to turn to ? Tim

After collecting material and information on the Yukon Field Force for the past 35 odd years I have decided to put this into a book form. I have been working on this project for sometime and hope to have it completed before the end of the year. ] This virtually unknown Canadian unit was formed in 1898 to help the North West Mounted Police deal with the Klondike Gold Rush in the Yukon Territory. Comprised of men and officers from the Royal Canadian Artillery, Royal Canadian Dragoons and the Royal Canadian Regiment, this two hundred man force trekked north through some of the worst bush and swamp of northern B.C. It then navigated the inland waters of the Yukon Territory to reach their final destiny of Fort Selkirk and Dawson City. The unit remained in the Yukon for the better part of two years, at which time it was decided they were no longer required and there was need for troops in the South African Boer War. The proposed book will have names of all the men and officers that served in this unit and will be cross referenced with the Canadian National Archives lists of those members who served in the Boer War and 1st World War. I will try to include as many photographs or prints as possible of badges, medals and the troops from sources as well as from my own collection. This book will be a reference for anyone interested in military and genealogical research or general interest about the Yukon Territory. If anyone has any information on this subject and wishes to share it with me, please contact me as soon as possible.

Nicely done article of the Candian Forces Wound Stripe. I am with the RCMP and am trying, since 2000, to get a similar badge implemented with the Force. Of course there will be modifications to the cirteria for qualification. The Force can implement a band or ident badge but they seem to be stuck on the idea that this wound stripe is too much for our uniform. Typical of the BS that the higher ups shovel. Everyone else, that works in the field, seems to think that it is. I have never been wounded and hope to get though my career unscathed. I will still persue this idea for as long as I am in.
