Many collectors believe that Waffen-SS straps should have the underside in Feldgrau cloth. This is nearly always the rule on late-war straps, but earlier straps (like this pair) can be encountered made of all black cloth and constructed like the Heer shoulder straps.
Best,
Mark
Mark,
yes that is what collectors believe

black piping is denoting 'Pionier' ? but this however only on Feldgrau cloth base (as the Panzer Pioneer used their own variation of white/black piping). So ?
Construction is mid-war production with silky piping. Cloth is all black wool.
Many thanks for your comments.

Still, I could sell it as an escape kit captured from a member of the SOE while she was repairing a damaged strut of the Lysander that had just arrived to take her back to London
Tony
Tony let me know if you do decide to part with them as old tools I collect, could you post images of the outside of the pouch?, are there any other markings on pouch? and are the DRGM numbers the same on each item (116827) ?

the emblem is actually 3 arrows, a circle, and a bridge like item that the arrows pass through in the centre, there is this type of tab illustrated in vol. 2 foreign legions of the third reich, page 244, although the emblem is placed in a different position. It is in the italian section, was if official or unofficial ???????????

Greg,
Great shots, the eagle on his sleeve in post number # 2 also looks interesting looks like there is no black border to it almost as if it was a metal eagle

Tony,
I noticed on one of the tangs it has a number then the word registered in english, I am assuming that the number it the pattern number are the other items numbered? also as it is worded in english I would think its an export item, the leather straps on the inside reminds me of how some british leather items are finished anyway it certainly is an interesting kit

PS Bontgen & Sabin was still producing items post war until about 1970 I think

Hi,
He was a Doctor. Originally from Romania, his Soldbuch had a photo of him in a SS Medical school /unit in Berlin with SS Runes, then he transfrerd to the Handschar. Was there from day one when the unit was formed, tilll the end of the war.
Chris,
Thanks for the extra info.
