Hi there, the one you are showing displays a medieval crown with A4 underneath it, it’s perfectly original and not too uncommon. A4 stands for 14K gold! This stamp was just about the only one transferred from the Royal awards into the communist one!

Hi Uwe, why II class? It’s a regular silver officer version! It’s very nice though!

There are NO classes for these, 4 types were awarded (the officer award was called “silver” infantry award):

-Soldiers

-NCOs

-Officers

-High ranking officers

Hi Peter, I’m sorry but you are wrong, this same spange was listed as #86 in the same German catalog from 1989, please check your facts because mine are rock solid

I have no knowledge if the 1998 auction  by SOTHEBY’s was organized in collaboration with SPINK! I would seem a plausible YES, but I don’t know for sure!
If SPINK is not listed anywhere in the catalog from 1998 as a collaborator, then I’ve no idea where you can get this info from!

BTW, I am talking about the book, that Igor shows, not the medals, the medals are from 1998 SOTHEBY, but the book he is showing is from 1989

The one Igor is showing is from the first auction with Ferdi’s belongings from 1989 in Germany and the medal bar I’m showing sits as I already said as # 86!

Hi Igor, this eagle pattern is bogus, it’s only related to constantly improving in quality fakes. You know, quality product doesn’t necessarily mean REAL unfortunately!

About the book, unfortunately it’s far from being something you can really rely on, nothing better out there though. 

About the 1937 pattern eagle, all the original pieces coming from Bulgaria and all the original eagles of the sort coming from groupings of German officers ARE GOLD PLATED. I, myself have 8 different variations, I don’t even think that there is as “crazy” person as I used to be about these. I’m missing 3 variations of all the originals that I have ever seen, but lately I just stopped hunting for them.

Igor, the “white” eagle shown in the book is most likely a fake as well. Supposedly the whole series of these fakes started with an original, but the problem is that no one knows where it is and there is no telling apart, as all of these with the inscriptions were cast in silver.

In the upper post I meant “ the Bavarian Pilot is most likely an improved fake”, not “the Prussian Pilot”! I can’t correct it!

Unfortunately only the observer is real WWI of post WWI it’s not known for sure! The Prussian Pilot is most likely an improved fake, closer examination would reveal the truth behind it, only these these pics are not good enough to know for sure! All the rest including the mini are bad! The rings could be good, again closer examination needed, but they are only 75-200$ a piece!

There is no such thing as a silvered eagle of this type as per regulations! If you find an original piece, it’s one of a kind! Again the one your are showing is fake!

There is NO “white” variation, the one marked 800 is a fake!
