Here's one of mine in a material close to Chuck's, this one also with a black star. I think that the Red Army made uniforms from any material they could - bought, made, or "liberated"! The next post will have a shot of the inside of the bud.

NavyFCO, it is possible to see a star with a plough?
Such stars did not put on these helmets.

I have never seen one actually for sale myself.... The one that I have shown I aquired by chance in a generous swap with our very own Stoo Belaruski.
The order of 1932 which approved stars with a steam locomotive did not contain figure, therefore also stars a lot of different type. Per 1943 the new form has been entered, the form of 1932 have collected and have destroyed.

The new form has been entered into militias per 1947, and in militia there was no rank the general, and there was a comissаr. Here a cocarde of the comissаr of 1947. ?

The best authority whom I know personally is my retired MVD colonel friend Boria. I clearly remember discussing the cockade I posted with him right after I bought it. According to him it is an NKVD general's cockade. I don't ask you to accept an unknown authority, but he's mine and that's what he said and I believe it.
Chuck
Let your friend from MVD Boria will tell whence at it such data?
It is a cocarde of the postman of 1948. (the decision of Ministerial council of the USSR from December, 13th 1948 № 4580).
