    1. Normally the people were very happy to turn them into the new passports. (they had the opinion that life would be better in future, which not always happened) Some weeks ago I found lots of brandnew passports in a cellar. Normally they all were destroyed. Only a few people kept their old ones. When you wanted to have a new passport you had to hand back the old one.

    2. Hello Jim

      Very Interestig theory. But...

Let us see what we have got:

      1. The exact date which is August 14th 1977

      2. F 96 now B96

      3. Brandenburg Area

So we have to find out which towns are near this road in the Brandenburg area.

Plumbers we need to produce things made of Zinc. What is made of Zinc?

When only Mr Honecker and Mr. Mielke are informed it means that not anybody else knew about it.) If somebody escaped the MfS or the Border Guards were involved.) It also means that something very big happened. :violent:

I hope this will make things easier.

    3. Hello,

in 1998 I have met two young Soviet soldiers in a forrest in GDR. Their faces looked a bit smashed. I do not speak Russian but I found out that they wanted to have civilian clothes. I took them to my car and gave them what they needed from my suitcase. They got changed within seconds and run away after I gave them 20 Marks (West). The uniforms they left. When I had a look at these uniforms this morning I found out that there are large stamps on the leftside leg and on the back of the jackets. The stamps show star, hammer and sickle and the letters BC which obviously does not mean invasion army for British Columbia.

Any idea what it can be? Unfortunately I cannot post pictures because it does not work no matter what I try.

      Thank you

      Frank

    4. Hello,

I hate questions on persons. So I will ask something completely different.

During GDR times the longest federal Road was the "Fernstrasse F 96" Now German Federal Road B 96. After August 14. 1977 the plumbers in that area where the road leads through Brandenburg had to do a lot of wor for a few days.GSFG placed a very large order

      What happened?

      What did the Soviets order?

      Regards Frank

I think you will need a map

And Back to work. Lady Boss is comming :speechless1:

    6. Hallo Gentlemen,

For several years I had the crazy idea in my ill brain to do two small exhibitions. :speechless:

      1. Exhibition on posters from Soviet camps (200 -250 pcs.) (1949 -1992)

      2. Exhibition on Soviet camp live ( furniture, equipment, uniforms, documents ...about 400 -600 sqm)

Now I want to do this projects. In the past I only supported smaller exhibitions in museums round Europe and now I want to do the "big thing".

Does anybody know where I can do some "espionage" ? ( Museums in the West where I can see how it was done  ) In Google I cannot find anything. Perhaps anybody has taken photographs.

      Hope that somebody can help.

      Regards

      Frank :cheers::cheers:

    7. Hello,

18 Years is a long time. Working on an exhibition (700sqm) on GDR - State and life I had to go to Eastern Germany.

There I had to visit some firms which have survived until today.Out of 126 fims only 5 had old documents or samples of products.

I have visited 21 town majors to find old busts, forms, old office furniture... In only one case I had success. There was a cellar full of GDR stuff. That and the offer to take everything made me happy.

When the country was united everything from the East was thrown away. West was best.

Just after the opening of the border I started to collect. The old NVA was history. The commanders of the units had to destroy nearly everything they had worked with for many years. When I arrived in the camps

they only said : Take anything you need. What do you need that XXX ( bad word) for?

When the Soviet Army moved back, there was a lot of vandalism by the German population. Not much was left. Fortunately I visited the Soviets before and they made me very happy. In most of the cases there was no interest by the local museums. That came when it was to late.

18 Years ago everybody in the East called me an idiot. Today even the large museums are asking for support.

18 years after the opening of the border the prices for GDR or Soviet stuff have changed dramatically.

A uniform was free ( everybody was happy when I came with a trailer) now it is expensive. The depots were full of medals now medals cost money.

18 years ago I have seen large piles of equipment burning. Now it is expensive.

Remembering all that I can be very happy to be an idiot.

18 years ago I had the best idea of my life. I bought a very large trailer.

Even 18 years later I find boxes and containers which have never been opened.

Now let us all rise our glas on 18 years collecting GDR stuff. In two years it will be the 20th anniversary.

      Regards

      Frank

    8. Dear Christian,

      I will accept your answer.

What I really wanted to know was: She was often called "purple Dragon or lila Dragon".

The reason for this was: Older women have often a yellowed appearance when the hair has turned into grey.

Blue rinse is a delute hair dye to reduce the yellow and makes yellow grey hair appear blue - white. The poor quality of East German chemicals made poor Margot`s hair very often look purple or lila instead of grey-blue.

      Your turn now

      Regards

    9. Hello,

Every month I get my pension from the German Embassy. (1500,--Euro) My husband is still with me even he is dead. My Father was a shoemaker. Before my husband married me he was married to another woman. (It is said that he was married twice before he married me). My doughter was born before my husband was devorced from his first wife. That caused Problems with Moscow. Some people called me "Miss Education" or "Purple Dragon" and a lot of people hate me.

What is the name of my husbands eldest doughter ? Why did some people call me "Purple Dragon"

      Regards

    11. Hello Gentlemen,

now my Question: (easy one because it was only half victory)

The Kennedy family was given a dog by Nikita C. .This dog had to pass a security inspection as a possible spy dog. We need name of the dog and parents names. What was special about the parents.

Bonus: Why are only female dogs used for space flights?

      Regards Frank

    12. Dear Christian,

      You have got it :jumping:

My boss used to give us documents to analyse. We always had to be very careful because one little word could give a hint or even change the whole situation, which sometimes can cause a lot of trouble. I did a lot of mistakes at the beginning . In emergency these mistakes can cost lifes. :violent:

      It is your turn now!

      Congratulations

      Frank :cheers::cheers:
