Just like to share with you another new addition and another first...this nice L59. It's a bit of a sleeper. Underneath the tarnish it looks to be really nice condition. You can see that the core retains it's flat black finish with a few rubbed areas.

I have not seen this style of medals offered for sale with any regularity so I thought I would share a few of mine for your viewing pleasure! Was this style popular with the soldiers in W.W. 2 as well? I do not believe I have ever seen a W.W. 2 period photo of them being worn. Does anyone have a photo you would like to share?

Are they considered desirable to medal collectors?

My favorite mini is the Red Eagle Order, it is actually hand painted. Yes, the mini is hand painted. the artwork is very impressive. Just can't beat those Germans for fine craftsmanship and attention to detail.

OK, it is the Meybauer cross I was talking about. I saw it to the last show. the cross is original IMO and in worn condition, age toned. it is marked 900 with the Meybauer's coat of arms. Such gold cross with this particular maker's mark are rare. Nevertheless, considering the condition, I find the cross over-priced. I certainly should have been interested myself at around 2200, but not 3600.

My collection is nothing Earth shaking , I don't own Adolph's mustache or anything so rare that I have to keep it in the Bank (wish I did though!). Just a normal collection from someone who loves Military History like you ..I always enjoy seeing other collections and hope you feel the same. There's something about the Iron Cross that (to me at least) always put it a cut above all of the other TR awards. So about 8 years ago, I started buying everyone I ran into ..I'm still not sure why but now I'm glad I did. I already started filling up my 3d Ryker Mount but I'm still not tired of them .
