This is an unidentified gentleman from a family album. Would anyone be able to shed light on who this may be and what the awards denote? Photo circa mid 1950s. Some family members seem to recall him being a high-ranking Naval officer and that they believe his name was Wiedemann or Wiehman or something along those lines. TiA! Blackhorse

The family is fairly certain he is Czechoslovakian Army, pre WW2. Does anyone have any information regarding him or his awards or his unit or anything for that matter. Thank you!

That is simply outstanding. It's brilliant information. I take it "Eckert gen. von Roques-Maumont." means his last name was Eckert, but he was called (gennant) "Roques Maumont?" He also served, as a young officer, with General Freiherr Theodor von Watter in Regiment 123, according to an account I have. Von Watter during the time in question (1917) commanded 13th Army Corps. Do you have anything on a Major of Pioniere von Stockmeier or a chief of staff for von Watter named Müller-Loebnitz, late 1917, 13th Army Corps?

Greetings all, I came across an individual's reference about the 4th company L 40th Regiment being detached to "Marsh Regiment Passavant", with duty in the East. This is roughly early 1916. Does anyone know what Marsh Regiment Passavant is? I have exhausted all my searches and turn to the experts for any assistance. Thank you! Blackhorse

Apparently he was the Commandant of the Fortress New Breisach (Neubreisach?) when it was bombed on the night of 26-27 January? Any information on him or the event is appreciated greatly.

I am looking for any information regarding OBERSTLEUTNANT Weller, not Oberleutnant. He was a Lieutenant Colonel who briefly commanded in the Landwehr Infanterie Regiment 40 some time late 1915.

That is most certainly the man! Awesome work and thank you! Regarding IR 357, the III Btn which was rolled into the 399th did serve at Verdun. They went in, in late 1916, as part of the Gard Ersatz Division. Simon would have been Dauter's Battalion Commander, if that helps any with identifying him. Dauter commanded the 11th Company of the 399th (previously the 357th). Also, regarding Simon, he is said to have received a "Hohenzollern Order" at some point after Verdun.

I cannot seem to find any definition of this particular term I have come across. I understand Stabs Feldwebel..but what exactly is an Etats Feldwebel? This concerns the Garde Jager in the Vosges, by the way.

He would have most likely been a lieutenant or Kadett. He was severely wounded on the Bärenstall, in the Vosges Mountains, sometime in mid 1915.
