  1. Instituted on 31 March 2003 by decree of the Defense Minister. Awarded to military personnel of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation who stand out for courage and dedication in carrying out combat assignments or special operations in life threatening situations. For carrying out proactive and decisive action that contributed to the success of the mission, for successfully guiding the actions of subordinates in carrying out combat missions.
  2. The award document shows both classes of the medal yet there is only one line for the medal number and the date of the award. There is however a line to inscribe the class of the award.
  3. Instituted on 22 December 1999 by decree of the Minister of Defense. Awarded to military personnel of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation for excellent performance in training, for special distinction while performing normal military or combat duties, military exercises and maneuvers; for courage, dedication and other merits as demonstrated in the performance of military duty. The 1st and 2nd classes are bestowed sequentially, 2nd class, then 1st class.
  4. Instituted on 24 January 2001 by decree of the Interior Minister. Awarded to soldiers of the troops of the Interior Ministry of the Russian Federation for excellent performance in training; for distinction in the performance of military duties; for merit in the protection of public order and public security; for courage, dedication and high achievements displayed during military service. The award document bears the stamp of the Interior Ministry (MVD Russia).
  5. Instituted on 26 February 2002 by the Defense Minister, it was also adopted by the Ministry for Emergency Situations (EMERCOM) on 18 July 2005. The obverses and ribbons are the same, only the reverse inscriptions differ. The Defense Ministry's version has the reverse inscription (#1 on the picture below): ?ЗА РАЗМИНИРОВАНИЕ?   6. BIO Komarovsky Alexander Nikolaevich, born 7 May 1906 in St. Petersburg. General of the Army (1972), Hero of Socialist Labor (1949), Ph.D. (1956). Member of the CPSU in 1939. Awarded to soldiers for impeccable service over 10 years or more in the service of quartering and settlement (billeting) of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, for courage and bravery shown in the performance of military duty or special tasks; to civilian personnel of the armed forces who have served in the Service of quartering and settlement of troops for 15 years or more, to veterans of military service for great personal contribution to the development of military construction, organization and arrangement of the q
  8. Instituted by decree of the Minister of Defense on 3 November 2005. Awarded to soldiers performing military service in the military components of the Naval Infantry or administration of Navy coastal troops, for impeccable service of 5 years or more. The medal (regardless of the duration of military service in the Naval Infantry) may be awarded to soldiers for bravery and courage shown in the performance of military duty. Naval Infantry veterans may be awarded the medal for special services.
  9. Prerequisites for award. Merit badges come in multiple variants, different branches (air defense missiles, fighters, radar installations etc) have their own particular designs.

Instituted on 13 August 2004, it is awarded to soldiers of the Air Force of the Russian Federation for 20 years or more of good service subject to holding the Medal For Distinguished Military Service 1st Class and other marks ?For merits? (such as badges like ?air defense troops?). In exceptional cases, for rewarding veterans of the Air Force or Air Defense Troops that meet specified conditions like the recognition of merit to the air force and air defense forces.
