Hi Pete...difficult to say. I had a flick through Georg Hogel's book and came up with these two. I'd say U-1004 stands a better chance especially when you read the entry but without provenence there's no way of knowing.
Hope this helps...Peter

And finally the Emblem for U-3024 (not the 1st U-Flott )

Couple of new additions to the emblem collection...opinions as always appreciated.

HI Erik...Only what the dealer has stated. Hogel's book shows this type but that could just as easily be the 1st Flotilla emblem.
Point taken...I'll avoid this one I think.
Great pic BTW....I'm still trying to find a period pic to prove this one

Also Peter,
I have never seen a real 1st U-Flottille style pin in red. The accepted originals are blue. I have seen a lot of fakes in red. Here's mine for comparison.
Erik
Hi Erik..I think this badge represents a single boat- U247. I'd like to have a closer look at the enamelling.

Peter,
This one looks bad to me. Enamel does not appear period, pin not right.
Best Regards,
Erik
Thanks Erik...I did wonder on the pin.

Any thoughts on this one guys. The emblem for U247. And is this type of pin and catch assembly period to the time.
Thanks in advance....Peter

Don't like the Narvik shield Morten. A typical Small 4 fake...sorry.
Here's my latest Narvik. A nice Juncker type in Zinc.

Here's a latest addition to the collection. An officers sidecap bearing the emblem for U-763. I'm not sure what the crossed swords represent, possibly it's sister ship U-761.

Great pictures Martin...I take it these tradition badges are near impossible to find.

Hi Erik...sorry for the late reply. Nice piece and as you say, could well be period. The Sawfish looks good IMO.

I've had this emblem for a while. Not sure if this is period or a postwar piece. It's got the '800' stamped on the back.....any thoughts?

Peter,
Both of your new pieces certainly have that "been there look". Any provenance?
Best,
Erik
Hi Erik..no rock solid provenance but I'm as certain as I can be these are period. I know they're part of an impressive Kriegsmarine collection that came onto the market a couple of weeks ago. A collection that included a rare Kriegsmarine Schellenbaum flag.
Thanks Gordon...You're right of course. This has got to be one of the most difficult areas of collecting. Trust me to take an interest in Tradition emblems
