I thought there were 2 panzer units that came to their rescue in Cholm wouldn't they have also recived this award for participation?
Hi.....The elements of XXXXIX Armee Korps who liberated the Cholm defenders weren't eligible for the shield.

Can you please explain what that means helmet fake? Thank you
Agreed....A well known fake. I doubt a Panzer backed Cholm shield even exists, if there was one it would probably be devoid of any cloth.

To explain a bit, I am looking at the faint dots on the front of the tally around the letters. This is a characteristic of KM tallies made in cotton. The thread looks like cotton also of course, not cellon and certainly not gold wire. John
Hi John...thanks for the input....I paid ?120 for the tally on the understanding I could forum it for some opinions, I've already been in touch with the dealer to send it back...so no problem there. I've found a Gold wire example which I think I'll go for.
Problem is I can't compare this one too the Belfast repro.
One other comment on this cap tally is it looks rather new.....

I believe this is a rare and original shield ...can't really tell if the backing cloth and paper are original.
I'll try and get more opinions for you.

Nice shield...totally original...Check out this stone mint Luftwaffe Cupal shield. The burnishing and the finish on these shields when produced were superb.

Hi Gordon...this is the same shield Nes posted above...I'll re-post with a better view of the 4. It does appear slightly smaller but an original Juncker shield never the less.
The small 4 fake copies this KM shield. The diagonal bar on the 4 always appears slightly curved (to me anyway) as well as being disproportionately small.

I need help,is this good???? Thanks for help.
Hi Nesredep.....Krim's a good one IMO and the other shield is just a fantasy shield and a post war copy.
The Kuban looks good as well just in a relic condition
hope this helps.....Peter
