Thanks ED,
From Wikipedia,
In the nations of the British Commonwealth, soldiers who are mentioned in despatches receive a certificate and are entitled to wear a silver oak leaf (from 1920?1994, it was bronze, in the Canadian Forces it still is) on the ribbon of the service medal issued to soldiers who served in a conflict. If no campaign medal is awarded, the oak leaf is worn on the left breast of dress uniform.

A very unusal way of mounting an MID, It should be on a ribbon, I think of the 39-45 medal ribbon, then I would expect to see more ribbons for service in WW2. Is the tunic dated?

Well according to Toms link, someone has a matching piece, I must admit I'm very sceptical, IMO its too well rendered to be a period piece, stick a hot needle in it, the smell will say if its bone or plastic (or cast resin) the back looks like plaster of paris or something similar. Difficult without having it in hand but....

Hi Joe, not really much to say, as it says it all on the badge, the central device being a stylised rose... Rosenheim (Rose home)

Now there's a suprise Don, the badge is magnetic ( I would have sworn a zinc based alloy) but the pin is not!

Picked this one up with a bunch of tinnies, I was unsure, but the price on the lot made it a reasonable gamble. Any ideas?
The maker mark says ""Pichl Klammer Insbruck"

Ian, not bankrupt, as military fairs with more than a few tinnies (that I havn't got) are rare to find, and I do have my limits on what I will pay. Being omniverous gives me a greater scope. HJ & SA tinnies are mostly beyond my pocket. English dealers having cottoned on to you specialists and upped the prices accordingly. As you say, abroad is the place to look. Although I must add that I find myself being out bid on Ebay for non-swastika marked tinnies & WHW items by German collectors! There will be a time when the price of these will mean, to me, a stop to this once reasonably priced collecting habit.
Only 11,000 plus to go!!!!
