Heres the hollow type. Have you noticed that the background to the swastika comes both pebbled and plain.

Welll, you point and spray.
Perhaps, a better way would be to apply it with a fine brush to the affected parts. Although it doesn't seem to affect the material. Drives off damp and coats the surface with a thin film, it does evaporate after a time and reaplication is needed. I havn't a clue what it does to the blacklight test. Its good for zinc pest as well and that fine surface dusting of corrosion you get on some badges (Especially tinnies)

Deutsch Reich Patent errrr applied for?

After a little cleanup with a soft toothbrush, is this similar to "Zinc Pest"? Not so sure I want to apply vaseline to the tabs, Anyone got some ideas????
I spray mine with WD 40, BUT it turns the corrosion dark grey, and you may be surprised how much corrosion is actually present. If you brush all the dust away you may end up with just the cotton inner core of the bullion cord.

Very nice badges/awards? But not having any references on Russian badges, what are they for, and what do they say.

Sorry my typing was off, it should say:-
30 Parteien wurden gereinigt,
und zum unteren vereinigt
Wo N?rnbergs Trichter eingef?hrt,
man auch sofort die Wandlung sp?rt.
30 Parties have been cleaned,
combined to the lower(?)
Where N?rnbergs funnel is introduced,
one immediately the transformation feels
A member from the Axis History forum gave me the above translation.
and another posted this:-
You see before your very eyes an example of a tinny of the famous Nuremberg Funnel.
It's a complex joke, I'm afraid
In medieval times, a certain schoolbook was printed in Nuremberg. It depicted a portrait of a rather startled looking kid in whose head a funnel was inserted, through which all necessary knowledge was to be inserted into the adolescent's brain. From this illustration, the book, which was used widely, acquired the nickname "N?rnberger Trichter", Nuremberg Funnel. This lead to the expression of "jmd. etwas eintrichtern", force-feeding knowledge into somebody.
This tinny is a propaganda piece visualizing this phrase of German vernacular. The script on the funnel reads "Where the Nuremberg Funnel is introduced/one can feel change immediately". The text on the piece with the arrow rhymes, rather badly, "Cleansed of thirty parties, and united."
So it would seem once the knowledge of unity has been force-fed to the masses, unity will ensue.
Hey, I didn't say it was a good one. Also, the doubled joke loses a bit in translation.
Thanks to both these fellows.

Pete

Hi Alec, I've only been once, not much German stuff there, so not really my scene, there seemed to be plenty of Allied and modern gear though. Big barn like buildings, so I hope its not cold!

Here'd the registration mark list. The same mark appears on glass, ceramic and metal etc. I would also doubt that it would be applied to any official military badge of that time. i.e the above badge is of a civilian nature.

Pete

Well the mark on the back is a British registration mark, this will tell you when these were made, Victorian period I believe.

Not Detlev Don, it came into my junk shop some 20+ years ago (shop long defunct as I couldn't bear to part with most nice items!) I once saw one (it could be Warlords) on a Forman list.
John I love that silver gilt type.

Mine came with this ribbon attached, but I have no idea if its original to the medal. Note also the bulbous ring mount.

My only other SS tab (except for a very mothed runic patch) is this one for Galacian vols.
Bevo weave, and the only collar patch I've ever been sure about. I've been told its very rare!
The pale vertical whit line is a scanner fault.

Hi Robert,
I knew I'd seen it somewhere before, but never thought of looking up on this page!
This same badge appears with different dates, though not in this case.
Note also posts 173 and 205 are the same though in this case my badge looks like a very bad stamping.

Pete
