Hi,
Can anyone ID these shoulder boards ? It is said that they are all civilian ones, but I have serious doubts about it.

Never seen anything like the middle one before...
Thanks and best from Johan

Some planes from the Brussels Air Museum have moved to storage at Vissenaken, and it is a superb job well done, and yes I'm being sarcastic.
If you want to see how we can turn wonderful planes back into wrecks, here in Belgium, have a look :

This time, the articles are all in english !
So what do you gentlemen think, is there any reason at all to be worried what will happen if the WW I collection would move to this location ?

Hi,
Can anyone tell me what German units were stationed between the Frezenberg and Zonnebeke village in this period ? Some suggestions are the 1st Landwehr Division or 236 Division.
I'm trying to piece together the history of the area where the new Scottish Memorial has been placed.
Thanks !
Best from Jo

Hi,
I think it was something that was to be discussed with the volunteers, but it was not discussed 'due to the lack of time'.
For those who speak/read Dutch or French, the answer can be found in paragraph 7
http://www.bamfbamrs.be/pub/Answeraelr.pdf
Now anyone reading between the lines, knows what that means unfortunately...
And yes they are partially placed elsewhere, in 'superb conditions' as a number of people could already see.
BTW are you saying that members of the military general staff of Belgium and a minister and his principal private secretary are not official persons representing the Belgian government ? And so not accepted as official sources ?
Yes indeed, some people are following very close the things to happen at the Brussels Air Museum...

Alex,
There are foreign museums, individuals, that are interested and also other groups in Belgium and even outside Europe. If no plans exist in that way (selling parts of the collection), how come so many are interested ?
Question is also if there have not been made any deals yet behind everybody's back...
With the first 12 planes gone it very much seems that way...
Anyway if they do continue this way they will get the international press on their backs. Might be a bad thing for their reputation.

Strange thing it is in that case that in high military and political circles other rumours are ciculating...
I even know of candidates to buy the planes due to this... On the highest political levels...
12 planes seem already to be gone...
It does not show much respect for the volunteers who are working in the museum. The reaction of the museum didn't show much respect for them either.
And that they should be aware of the heritage, I personally have some questions about that. Especially after the experience I had with a few people in the part of the air museum. Fortunately not all the people in the royal army museum act that way.

I do agree, it is not an original at all.
