here we have a nice photograph of a soldier from Pionier Bataillon Nr.12 in Pirna / Sachsen - but what exactly is that medal? The medal looks for me like the Sachsen-Meiningen Lebensrettungs-Medaille - but the ribbon confuses me.... or is it just a SEHO ? Your help is warmly welcome... :blush:

Could someone please help me with that uniform.... what is it??? I have never before seen something like that , maybe some kind of official.... on the shoulder boards are two pickels and the photo is made in Neustadt in Sachsen.... thank you for all input

No , not curious at all... this bar dates exactly from the years 1895-1897 because the oakleaves were given out in 1895 for the 25 year jubilee of the 1870 war !!! Centennial medal comes in 1897 , so we have the small time gap of two years when this bar must have been made....

Hello all, nice picture of a soldier from the Schutztruppe in the beautiful white uniform with tropical helmet. I have some questions, maybe you can help me.... scans of all details follow... 1. What is the EXACT rank of this man? I think it is something like a Oberbüchsenmacher , right or not? 2. What are N°3 + 4 on the medal bar? I think bavarian MVK and Luitpold , right? 3. What is the thing over the cockarde on the helmet? Any more informations you can find on the uniform details and equipment will be helpful , please let me know all your thoughts.... thank you Heiko

Yes the upper one is Taku - the lower one is not 100% but looks like Tientsin....
