    1. Hi!

This is my first post in this subforum about Middle East and Arab States militaria. Because this is not my field I would like to ask you for help to identify this badge. I collect Yugoslavian militaria and in last time also UN militaria. In the past month I bought a lot of two UN arm bands and UN flag. In this lot there were also this badge. I make some research and I think this is a badge of Arab Legion. Can somebody confirm that? Or is it something else.

    2. Just out of interest, who are the manufacturer of the beret & badge? Italian made badge?

Unfortunately there are no manufacturer markings neither on the beret nor on the badge. So I can't tell you who are the manufacturers. But I don't belive they are italian made. As I said in a post above I belive they are of canadian origine.

I would also like to found out the origine of these items and will be gratefull for any information. So I post here pictures of the under side of the beret and of the badge.

    3. Thank you Gordon for information about the two small UNEF "medals".

Today I would like to share with you a photo, which shows yugoslavian soldiers from UNEF I or UNYOM mission. I find it very interesting. Soldiers wear uniforms which are not standard yugoslavian uniforms. I even assume that these uniforms are not of yugoslavian origine but that they are of canadian origine. Can anybody identify these uniforms?

      Regards, Sebastijan

    4. Some UNEF pins. These pins were presented to soldiers who took part in UNEF mission. There are different dates on these badges. These dates indicate year when the soldier served in the mission. On my pins there are the following dates: 1959, 1960, 1962, 1963, 1964, 1965 and 1967.

    5. Jugoslavian national army (JNA) between 1956 and 1991 took part in some United Nations peacekeeping misions:

      - UNEF (1956 ? 1967),

      - UNYOM (1963 ? 1964),

      - ONUC (1960 ? 1964),

      - UNIIMOG (1988 ? 1991),

      - UNAVEM (1989 ? 1991) and

      - UNTAG (1989 ? 1990).

In my collection I have some items which are connected with these UN peacekeeping misions.

    6. Hi Drew

My opinion is that badges of high military political academy are quite rare and it is not easy to find them. In last three years, when my interests are focused in yugoslavian national army insignia, here in Slovenia I see only one time badges for army and navy academy. So I still looking the badge for air force academy and silver coloured badge of military political academy. Unfortunately I have no picture of that last mentioned badge. About its exist I found information in an artice about yugoslavian militarry political academy badges written by Nenad Bjelo?.

      Regards

    7. Thanks....did thebadge come in variants, different grades? I see sometimes the JNA pins......do you know much about their wear?

      Take care, Drew

There were four variants of the military political academy badge.

Drewchaneyau's badge is for high military political academy of air force (blue background). It was issiued from 1974 till 1991. Badges from that period were made in gold coloured metal. From that period there were also badge for high military political academy of navy (dark blue background) and for high military political academy of army (red background).

Beside these badges there was also a badge for military political academy, which was issued in period from 1970 till 1974. It was same as badge for high military political academy of army, what means it had red background. But it was made from silver coloured metal.

      Regards, Sebastijan

    8. Is it possible that it is a pre-military school cap badge?

For sure it is not a pre-military cap badge. Here is a picture of a pre-military cap badge (it is not from my collection, the picture was taken from internet) which is different form Anatoly's badge:

      Regards, Sebastijan

P.S. Moderator can you delete my upper double post. Thanks.

    9. The same topic?

I have the same badge as Anatoly's in my collection. From other collectors I was told that this is badge of anti aircraft protection which was organized in factories and that abbreviation PAZ stays for Protiv Avionska Za?tita = anti aircraft protection. But till now I have no oportunity to verify these informations in literature.

      Regards
