Has anyone seen the Flakturm in downtown Vienna? These facilities were so big and so strong they had to leave them in place. Good reminders of history.

Yes it was the Krummlauf. It had holes drilled in it to let gas escape. It hooked on to an MP44 with a mirror site and angled the rounds at 30-40 degrees. Maybe 90 in a model or Panzer defence. They suposedly lasted for a few hundred rounds before they burned out.

What a beautiful rifle. They shoot real well too. I bought one years ago for $450. Now they go for a minimum of $1000 or more. Why did I ever get rid of it?

What a great pic. Everything the Krauts did had a certain flair or penache. Look at the cammo scheme and the other markings. Way cool.

There must have been a whopping lot of luck involved to bring down any plane with a.45. That round has a trajectory like a hog jumping a fence. Once it hits something that is a different story. A 230 grain bullet going 820 fps, it disipates all of it's energy when it hits. That's why we like them so much.

I think the center of the O is a key indicator. I had one just like it, it was repo. There is info out there on this subject.

I have a contact in Russia. He says it very very hard to find much if any WWII Soviet gear such as helmets or telogreikas or fur hats. I think medals are easier to get because a lot of them found there way west.
