I have interest in their cause, my granfather fought within a Republican unit and cross the border later in the war while the whole family was in a so-called refugies camp. I was too young when he died to know more about its combats and awards. don't think he got medals, stay in live was the most coveted award !

Very interesting Jaques, I agree life being more important than medals for sure. It just seems that there is much interest in the German involvement but not much about the Republic and its fight against facism.

a kindred spirit!...I note there are limited threads indeed. I have a particular interest in medals, awards etc and found the thread on the International Brigades interesting. I am a novice and hope some 'Republicans' surface and maybe show some decorations?

Yes, I (for one) have a great interest in them. But I fear there aren't many like us, with most of the interest lying with the fascists.

Are there any persons with an interest in the Republicans and their cause in here? Didn't they issue awards too?
