Those two buckles certainly look alike! The eagle's head and the "G" you've pictured pretty much have me convinced they are from the same maker! Good on you buddy - another mystery taken care of!! Cheers! Rob

Got a few new buckles in the mail this week.....Here's one that I like - hard to find static swastika buckle. Unmarked (most are) but I'm thinking Overhoff manufactured. I do have another one like this but the patination on this example is somewhat darker. Cheers! Rob

Hi Ben....interesting question....if it was replaced...it would have been done a LONG time ago. In hand - the patination and "look" (you know what I mean) match perfectly! If it is a replacement - I'm sure it was period done....I'll take some closeups if I can of the belt catch... Cheers! Rob

hahahaha....believe it or not: it was in my home town: Ottawa! Goes to show that you never know what will show up at these places....There's always the off chance that a gem will show up...I was lucky to get this one - but then again....I was there even before the doors opened! Yuppers...Very cool .... and very distinct eagle. My only CTD example like this is a steel Navy example that has the gold gilt to it. One of my faves...same eagle - just a different "colour". Cheers and congrats...that buckle is in great condition!! Rob

Hey guys.....zinc could be a possibility - I say that because I have no clue what that kind of buckle should look/feel like. I was simply going on John's word as I have never had a buckle like this one. What would zinc be like? Heavy? Easy to bend? Not easy? It's still a type of buckle that I didn't have so I won't be heart-broken if it isn't pewter - but I would like to nail it down. Cheers! Rob

Hi Guys...Yes, it does give off that look doesn't it. I don't think it is though - feels different in hand and I compared it with my HJ Potmetal example. I got this buckle from John Angolia... he mentioned these were mostly issued to the LW and the Heer and some other collectors have mentioned that they have seen more of these. Just doesn't feel like the potmetal...I think I could probably bend this buckle with a bit of elbow grease...doesn't look as solid as the kriegsmetal type. Cheers! Rob
